Is the 2.8GHz processor a huge sapper of battery life vs. the 2.53GHz processor? And if it is, how much more powerful is the 2.8GHz than the 2.53GHz so I can decide if it's worth it to upgrade? (not in a money sense, but in a power sense).

    Thanks.

Yeah, it would decrease battery life noticeably.
However, you have to make a distinction.
    The 2.80 GHz is the P9600, with a 35 W power consumption.
The 2.53 GHz one, however, can be the P9500 (25W power consumption) or the T9400 (35W power consumption).

So if we're comparing the P9600 and the P9500, that's 10W less power consumption! Since most laptops have something like 75 W power consumption, you're looking at a 10/75*100 % increase in battery life. That's about 12%, according to my brain.

The difference between the T9400 and the P9600 will be a lot smaller, since they use the same power consumption (although the P9600 will probably still use more power under load): maybe a couple of percents (couple of minutes).
