I have a couple of questions about batteries on the p150hm that I would like answered please :)

    1) When you're using your laptop on AC power, is it safe to keep the battery in even though its 100% charged? I heard 70% is the best for the battery and then to take it out, but I need 100% as I have class most days and need as much battery life as possible.
    2) Is it safe to remove and plug in the battery when the laptop is on?

    thanks

    Hi
    the ongoing debate continues.
for your needs its fine to leave it in fully charged and connected as you will be using it on battery on a daily basis.
the main reason to remove it is when you dont need battery at all for long periods of time so its advised to fully charge, then drain, then charge to between 40-70% and remove.

i left my m860tu battery connected all the time and within a year it only had 25% charge. was replaced under warranty (batteries are only covered for 1 year) and the latest battery is 3 years old now and still has a 98% charge on it. i remove it most of the time as its always on my desk now.

    1. Yes, this is safe. There is charging circuitry to keep it from constantly overcharging the battery.

    2. Yes, though you shouldn't do it more than necessary because eventually you can cause a connection to break or short due to removing it so many times.

It is recommended to let your laptop fully drain the battery while in BIOS.
Some laptops, such ad D901C, may maintain 100% of the original capacity for 2-3 years even if you don't follow this draining scheme every month.

    1) Yes

    2) If you are plugged in with your AC Adapter it is safe to remove the battery, carefully, but if you are asking if you can remove the battery when the laptop is on, but not plugged in with your AC Adapter the answer is it is not a good idea, and it will instantly shut you down. If you have a spare battery and you want to swap a fresh battery for one that is worn down, all you have to do is Hibernate, swap the batteries, and wake it from Hibernation. This is very fast as opposed to shutting down and rebooting, and it will bring you back with all of your applications and data open to exactly where you were when you Hibernated it.
