I was just about to create a thread for the beta drivers myself before I saw this :). I'm downloading 285.38 now.

Any idea why the download on the US site is 190mb while the UK site is 150mb?

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-285.38-beta-driver.html (US)
    http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/notebook-win7-winvista-285.38-beta-driver-uk.html (UK)

EDIT: I just realized one is for win32bit while the other is for win64bit to answer my question.

PS: Nvidia stated (on twitter) that the driver will boost the performance of Battlefield 3 by 38%.

What is the best way to upgrade the graphics driver? Is it still recommended to remove the current driver, restart to safe mode, run driver cleaner, restart into normal mode, then install new driver?

If you select custom(advanced) install , you get the option to do a clean install, all of the drivers are removed and then your notebook reboots and then the new driver automatically starts to install.

Wow! that sounds like a great boost *-*

I was expecting to test Battlefield 3 Beta on my brand new P170HM. But I'm still waiting for it =/ I wonder when it will come. I haven't received any news from MALIBAL either T_T

This kind of makes me wonder if I should have gone for the X7200, since I'm losing money because of the delay (150 USD a day starting today >.< ), plus If I don't get it by Friday my Job could be in Danger :(

If someone can, please let us know the results on their GTX 580M ;)

    Thanks!

This driver is great, and my aging 8800M GTX had no problems, and I was able to play a couple of rounds although it was a bit laggy but not by much, which was probably more to do with the servers.

I've been playing Batman Arkham Asylum regularly for a while now and it seems that this new driver completely tanks the performance in that game. I don't know if it's PhysX or not but I used to play everything on High at above 60fps now it's hovering around 20fps with many drops.

edit: Nevermind I performed a clean install of the previous version and then the new one again and it's all fine now.

    :p That makes perfect sense. the 560M is not supposed to be a Gaming-Enthusiast card its only on the High performance line. This is actually one of the biggest reasons why I went for a SATORI (P170HM) instead of an ASUS G74 ^^;

The GTX 485M or the GTX 580M on the other hand are supposed to be able to activate most of the options on High, but I cannot be sure until I get my P170HM from MALIBAL to test it =)

nightmare finding servers as quick game was not working and once i did get in one it was freeze up every 10 seconds and sound loops.
i must admit the graphics do look amazing and half my settings were on high using a 260gtx. dont ask me what was on high as i couldnt get onto the page again to check.
im not liking the join game through website malarky.
    only time will tell.

I'm using a 560m and I've been playing all high at 1080p with little/no problems. Could be a tad smoother, but it doesn't seem to be negatively affecting my KDR.
