Best Modified Forceware Driver For Gaming Performance With A FX3700M Installed As A 280M?

Yeah, even my M570RU beat that with an 8800M GTX...

 

Yeah well that was achieved with two things:

- a bios edited
- nvidias 185.85 installed as gtx280m

It was only for benchmarks thought. I had to step down a bit on the overclock so my score in sig reflects pretty much the real situation.

 

My motherboard died so I can't check the clocks I used last, but I always try to have the latest driver.

 

Card arrived, installed. Memory pads are a little torn but for now I reused them.
The card is idleing @ 34° C wich is VERY LOOOOW for me!! My 9800M GT idled@ 42° C.

I am struggling to make the driver recognize it as a 280M. Despite my mod to the 276.24 inf , it continues sayinf FX3700M.
I think that the automatic driver install of XP is messing up things.
Any help ??

 

The card seems only very cold&quiet. Full @ 66°C !
The problems are:
1.OC . On win7 64bit 267.31 inf modded seems very stable @560 1450 920
On win XP 32bit 267.31 inf modded crashes on crysis2 for example..
2.DRIVER. The string modification seems NOT enough. Nvidia control panel identifies it as a FX 3700M no matter what I try.
Solutions???

The only thing is to change HW ID on vbios manteining FX3700M vbios. Will the machine beep for 30sec ??

 

Your luck on changing ID is based on what card you got, if from lenovo, hp or else.
As an example mine wont post neither show any image if i change my vbios to GTX280m, so i guess its an IBM/LENOVO. Also it doesnt oc that well.

HP ones instead seems to react differently. They can be installed and reflashed as GTX280m and they still work good. I guess its a matter of revisions.

So unless you're experienced in blind flashing , id say avoid flashing it as GTX280m for the reasons stated.
As for the driver hack, you can get the card displayed as GTX280m under GPU-Z and the likes, but still the card will be seen as FX3700 under NVCP.
While under some benchmarks like SF4 it will be readen as GTX280m.

The good thing about this Hack is that it installs the game profiles, thing that you need for gaming.
They will not show up thought, unless you add a game manually....bam! The NVCP will load the profile for it if theres any. Thats a good thing.

About drivers, dont bother with that 267.31 because its an hotfix for GTX580 users only. The best driver you can use is:

Quadro 265.90 under XP and Seven, OR try Quadro 267.05. It needs to be edited to swap FX3700 to GTX280m thought.

 

Coul you please explain me in a more detailed way the "game profile" thing ??

Wich memory chips are installed on your card?? Mine are samsung HC12 800Mhz
My stable oc is 560/1400/900 under XP... under Seven I can go higher without problems..

What if I change my device id to 060B belonging to 9800M GT on my FX3700M bios??
The driver would recognize it as a gaming geforce (no matter which model but NON a Quadro) with 128sp??

 

I flashed a 9800m GT vbios onto my card, still had 128sp.

 

flashed 280M bios on my FX3700M..it works with beeping but as soon as you install and initialize the driver, screen became fuzzy. so no way.
I have the "famous" mxm upgrade 9800M GTX that makes it work with M57RU: it's really nothing special, however I haven't tried it.
Tried changing only IDs (I've had chosen 060B) manteining original bios but gave me black screen and blind flash.
So no news as of now,
my only option is to use rivatuner to modify D3D behaviour in texture filtering..

 

Maybe that happened because the m570ru doesn't support the gtx 280m

Pretty sure you have the version which can be flashed to the 280m correctly.

you can force it to run the 280m driver with the have disk method, though its safer to use dox modded drivers.

 

I tried the driver mod(to make the driver think that FX3700m is 280m) but Windows7 just gave a BSOD after login!

Normal quadro driver seems to crash a lot while gaming!("Driver stopped responding and recovered")

Sometimes, if you don't Alt+tab out in time after the game hangs, it gives a BSOD with nvlddmkm as the causative factor!!

 

...are you overclocking?

If not... you may have a faulty card...

I installed the quadro driver on it and it ran fine and even survived torture tests!!

I guess there might be a prob with the game!?(Dead Space 2) Every time a monster comes, the driver crashes, as if afraid! lol

 

I was playing Dead Space 2 with my fx 3700m, all settings maxed out and the frame rate was always at 30 (I think it was capped to 30, because even if I lowered the settings to min, the frame rate was still at 30). I was using the quadro driver and my card was underclocked to 500mhz.

Anyway, it's a good game, never finished it though, probably will play the original one before I go back to 2.

 

^Personally, original game is much more freaky!! I left playing it halfway through! lol!

Anyways, I tried other games like TDU2 etc. and they dont crash the display driver. But I get like 25-30 fps max!!

 

a little update.
Just flashed a 62.92.49.00.A1 9800M GTX mxmupgrade modified bios (for RU) just for curiosity..
On M570RU it beeps for 30sec at boot but after that the card works perfectly. (temps, also 2D,thrtl,3D, extra profile works).
Not more OC however

Conclusion: if you want a GEFORCE card with 128sp with your QUADRO FX 3700M, i suggest this bios (pm me or tirenz for it)

PS.I'm lookin towards a 280M mxmupgrade modded bios..

 

Just got this card. M570tu here. Is there any concensus on whether any bios fix/overclocking will give considerable performance gains.
