    Sup guys,
I am currently having a notebook with a LG Philips LP156WF1-TLF3 panel. And I was wondering what I can upgrade it to? I'm mostly interested in that the monitor looks great, so the more gamut and the better contrast ratio the better.

It's basicially the original panel of the P157SM. I really want something that looks good, the current panel isn't terrible but not good either, it's medioce. The black tones are pretty meh as well and the panel already got some mura going on, so I suppose a replacement should be due.

Viewing angles are not as important as the color representation and kontrast. The monitor doesn't have to be that overclockable either.

I heard the panel AUO B156HW01 V4 is the best I could get, If so, will it be plug and play?

The V4 does indeed have the best gamut of all the compatible displays. And yes, a drop-in.

Mind that gamut and contrast are often inversely correlated unless you have an oled display. Thing is; to get more colour nuances you can crank up brightness of the backlight, but that lowers (raises) the black value and consequently lowers contrast. That being said, with oled infinite contrast is possible when you have a black value of absolute zero (-ish), but that in itself does not mean you have a good display. After all, a full-black image and a single lighted pixel will be labeled 'infinite contrast' too (divide X by, say, 0.0000000000000242 and the result is quite large for almost any X).

Some compatible displays will have deeper blacks, but none will have the V4's gamut. Apart from the gamut, its blacks are also a bit better than the TLF3 in that regard, but not so much as to be noticeable.

That TLF3 is quite good display, btw. Both it and the V4 have good viewing angles, in lieu of being TNs, and are very much overclockable, due to being TNs.

    Ps.
Your SM might have a dual LVDS+eDP connector motherboard, depending on the revision. If so then that would result in a few more options, provided you'd get the eDP display cable as well as the screen. Don't think any are better than the V4 though, especially after overclocking that thing to about 75-90 Hz, which it will do easily.

And for something completely different, what is the best Qhd/Uhd 17.3" panel on the market? ?

I wonder what the best overclockable, IPS, high-gamut, low-to-moderate response-time, G-Sync-capable 15.6" eDP displays are.
