Main five apps used in my job:

    • Internet Explorer
    • Visual Basic
    • SQL Mgmt Studio
    • Microsoft Dynamics GP
    • Photoshop

Most of my work requires very little need for a high-end graphics card (photoshop is the only exception, and even then it's simple image editing), but I keep a ton of IE windows open at a time, and multi-tasking is what I'm all about. Also, i don't have much need for storage over 500GB.

That being said, what would be the best Clevo/Sager for under 2000? Under 1500?

    Thanks.

For your needs I would say for under $1,500 you should be able to get a 15' or a 17' model like a basic 8130, 8150 or the 8170. :)

For under $1500, you could get a pretty nicely configured P150HM. I'd recommend going with the 6990m as it's one of the fastest cards out there and fits in the budget. For photoshop work, the 95% screen upgrade is probably a good choice as well.

For under $2000 you could add in some more upgrades like an SSD, more RAM, etc.

I don't know if it's still true, but at one time Nvidia had better hardware acceleration in Photoshop. You may want to look into the 580m if you decide to get a model up to $2000.

Or, if you're willing to sacrifice the power (since you mentioned you don't need the high-end GPUs) in the laptops listed by Larry & Malibal, you could always take a look at the NP5165 or NP5175. Their tradeoff is GPU power for battery life.

Sounds good! I think I tried to chat with you on our live chat system but something kept timing you out :(

Any reason for 16GB over 8GB? Just out of curiosity. 8GB will probably be more than enough, but future-proofing to 16GB wouldn't hurt either.

Hey JP, check on my order; they are having issues with me the shipping address I used, so I told them to go ahead and use the billing address as the shipping address.
Also, it's a Business Ghost Card, so there is no "customer service number on the back of the card."

Okay, things aren't looking good with XoticPC; which is a shame, because JP was EXTREMELY knowledgable.... Any companies do price matching on Sager systems?

Don't quote me on this but if i'm not mistaken most will price match, so your decision should be based on reviews of said companies and who you feel most comfortable with.

Thanks for the compliments, much appreciated! Right now we're working on getting some billing info hammered out on his order :)
