Bought this back in 2011? I believe from Malibal. It's still in my signature (specs).
Now, like many others, my GPU AMD 6990M started dying after owning it about a year. I have resorted to constant reflows/baking whenever it dies on me (crash, then can't even boot, then safe mode graphics have tearing and general failure). It's very annoying having to do this every time, taking it apart, unscrewing (my screws are very threaded now), repasting, etc. I have to do this ranging from less than a week before it dies again, to maybe with luck, more than a month. Generally, it's just worse and worse. First, i had the span of a few months, then weeks, and now it's been only days before it failed again.
Considering that it's only the 6990m that seems to be faulty, what should I do with this? I don't really game that much anymore, and I have a windows surface pro which I'm happy with using as my main machine if I need to, I mostly play hearthstone anyway.
I don't really know how to strip it... and I can technically sell it in working condition (though I'm inexperienced with shipping and selling online). I can also maybe buy a GPU that works with my mobo, but they are fairly rare and expensive + I'm not sure how guaranteed it is not NOT fail on me.
What would be the best course of action in your opinions? I eventually plan on building a desktop for a powerhouse again, since I have never really been happy with high GPU temps, 80C when playing games and idling near 70C all the time for a laptop(running an external monitor).

If you don't want to play games you could look for the cheapest card that would work. If you have taken out and baked the card replacing it should be easy.

Check to see if a 560m would work, they should be cheap, there may be issues as you had an amd card originally.

Only 560m's I saw on eBay on a quick glance showed cards extracted from Toshiba Qosmios and only happen to be compatible for those boards... if I want a cheap one anyway. Those may be ~$100, others, more in the $300.

You could contact malibal as they should be able to source the card for you.
Best way to deal with my P150HM
