I was looking for a close up of the gts 160m and I ran into some interesting stuff. One of which was a close up of the gts 160m bga. Not something I expected to find by googling it.
I got mostly pictures like this:

Then I saw a real live picture of the card with the BGA exposed and everything.

...Its a "rabook firebat" (starcraft reference anyone?)
I would kill for that palmrest. :p

That's an M865TU. Never seen the keyboard with the gaming highlights though.

The GTS 160m is pretty much a 9800M GTS.

The keyboard looks to be MSI, typical of their 15'' whitebooks. For example or this one or even a previous generation's.

I know about the keyboard  I put that there because I expected it because I thought the msi gt628 was the only laptop released with the 160m.

m865tu tho, eh? Thats cool. good to know.

The link refers to an MSI/Clevo reseller named RaBook located in China.

No surprise if they use MSI part on clevo machine, and vice versa.

Ah I see. Well sorry I made it confusing...

Actually they didn't use any MSI parts...

Its funny. I thought the gts 160m was an MSI part too. But the board clearly has "m860l" printed on it.

    I got a pic of gts160m from MSI GT628.

There are a few differences indeed.

    Yes, no HE tab right?
The image link seems to be broken.

I did some search and found this one.

    Interesting, a G94-707-B1 in MXM 3.0B other than 2.1 III-HE.

The seller claims it is an alienware part.

    Hmmm
The first one is not a gts 160m, nor is it an MSI card. Nor is a Geforce.
See the core? its a1, which is 65nm. AND it is 900 core binning... AND it has a Lenovo board layout, which has 5 of those black things one side, only 3 on the other. Most have 3 on each side and 2 on the back.
You can tell because the 4 capacitors are evenly spaced, because the VRM was moved about 5mm to make room for those voltage regulators.
    Its a quadro 2700m.

The other card... not an alienware part ;) though I don't doubt it works in alienware systems.
To my knowledge that is the only geforce 9000 series card on MXM 3.0.
Its an HP card. not for laptops, technically, but for the HTPC "HP firebird" which runs them in SLI. :)

Thanks for posting, though. It seems as though that is the same core as the gts 160m, at least the Clevo version of it. So if you ever wanted to replace a g94 BGA that would be the one ;)
I don't think there are any higher binned g94 cores... there is a 655 b1 which is what Asus used on the 9800m GS, and a 705 & 706 b1... Probably one of these is the MSI card.

There are definitely no MSI cards with an HE tab I think. They probably just don't care because they know it is unnecessary.

I manage to get a benchmark pic which shows it has 64sp.
    It's not a fx2700m which has 48.
The owner also edited the inf file of driver, so the name shows 9999M Ultra.
Device ID is right, 0631 for GTS160m, which could be edited however.
    A full G94 in 65nm,MXM 2.1 III-HE, 9800m gs or 9800m gts maybe..
And subvendor shows CLEVO/KAPOK Computer, which I guess someone forgot to change when editing vbios.

So, I think it a 9800m gts, clevo part.
    Any other possibility?

Once I saw a Asus 9800m GS which has a core of G94-650-A1.

    MXM 2.1 III-HE..So,it's not a G50v part.
I guess that is for G71sg or w90vn.

    Yes, yes it is... ;)

May or may not be a Clevo part.
All cards I've tested, even the MSI ATI card came up as Clevo with GPU-Z on my m860tu.

AND yes that is a user here. I remember his post, which I think is in the "flash your 9800m GS to a GTS" thread. He said exactly "I flashed my 9800m GTS to a 9999m".

As for the picture however, that means nothing. I believe he got it from another ebay listing. Its definitely a Lenovo 2700m, I have absolutely no doubt.
Also a Clevo card would have the clevo model number on it.
I've never EVER seen a Geforce with a 900 core.
The screen shot is interesting tho. I overclocked my t6600 like that :D

Its not that easy to overclock on the m860tu, but you can get some awesome OCs with 800mhz FSB cpus because you can OC it back to 266 and above.
The g71 uses reverse MXM. Those are for the w90, I've seen them too. :)
