These do have the new Enduro 5.5 UI enabled, but they don't support switchable graphics on 7000M series according to release notes. Likely have to install over your old drivers, workaround method. Looks like we have to wait until October sometime. AMD trolling us. When AMD tweets 12.9 beta will have mobile support, they meant non GCN. Jerks.

is it nice drivers?
-
So simply do an express uninstall of the previous software first, or do a clean uninstall?
-
So the latest official driver is 12.8 ?
Does that mean that the new interface drivers are the 13.xx ? -

Something is wrong with this driver, my fan is always ON now....
Driver was installed in a a clean windows install, anyone with this problem? -
Im about to order a P370EM as soon as the reseller has them in-stock with 7970m. AMD better hurry and release stable drivers or Im gonna have to go NVIDIA.
I dont get it - how hard is it to make drivers for their OWN VIDEOCARD.
Luckily, my P150HM is rocking a 6990m and has no issues with 12.7 drivers. -
Did you check that no process had switched to high performance in ccc?
-
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
I´m doing that... one by one, for now had to change Firefox to "Power Saving" the default "Based on Power Plan" would keep my 7970 always on...
The weird thing was the fans kept working for so long even when temp reading showed around 45º...
Also in my laptop i get a bug in the Switchable Graphics GUI page, the drop down boxes to select are WAY hidden to the right, i have to scroll right and pull them to the left... sucks it doesn't store the alignment. -
The fans keeping on working is a BIOS bug (as far as I know)

The drivers are good, its Enduro which people are having problems with. Since the P370EM doesnt use Enduro you dont have anything to worry about. -
So any enduro/usage fixes?
-
No... It's been said many times, the 12.9 beta would not have usage fix! Not until sometime in October. Read CatalystCreator's TWEETS!
-
Thanks! I don't have the time to spend all day watching for this.
-
You don't have time to check twitter, a whole 10 sec? You could do it on the toilet with phone or waiting for gf/wife while she in girl's room... Too busy saving the world right? Yeah tapping that twit app is really time consuming.
-
But...I don't even have a Twitter
-
That's why I said thanks...I didn't know there was an update guy on twitter...
...tapatalk... -
You're in luck, there's no need of one! Just bookmark this: Andrew D (CatalystCreator) on Twitter
Thank you for not spamming ^_^ -
What is this ?
The following notebooks are not compatible with this release:
"Switchable Graphics enabled notebooks."
So Enduro is supported but not switchable graphics? Is this a ****ing joke? Good god AMD. 7970m isn't even listed in the supported "AMD Mobility Product Families" section.
Definitely not installing.
I am so pissed right now. We got trolled hard by AMD.
Next up, the October release fixes 7000m performance issues but doesn't support the 7000m series or switchable graphics. Oh, and it ends up the performance fix doesn't actually work and is just a cover up for another driver that doesn't support our cards. At this point I don't trust AMD any more, and I wouldn't be surprised if October's driver really DOESN'T support the 7000m series. -
Chill out dude, this is just a beta, not final release, I dont think they take their time to list supported cards and features when this driver isn't even supported.
I've just installed it, it's the same just with the new UI. Installation can be done without rewriting clevo drivers, I've used official intel driver and it had no problems during installation, just what AMD told.
I'm playing battlefield 3 right now in a 64 player map and at least i can say that these drivers aren't worse, the game somehow feels smoother, yet utilization problems persist, I dont get past 80 FPS at low settings. -
That makes no sense. Of course if a driver doesn't support the 7970m, you don't list the 7970m. If the 7970m IS supported, you make make sure your customers KNOW it is.
-
I just installed it and checked the driver version as well as the CCC version. The UI looks the same.
-
They didn't say this release would fix the Enduro utilization for 7970M. They specifically said this release would enable the Enduro 5.5 UI, which it does. The utilization would be fixed with an October release. The part they are trolling is that they did say it would support mobile, but I guess GCN 7970M is not a mobile GPU... At least for me I had to install over my previous install.
Must have installed it wrong. The Enduro 5.5 is enabled on this release by default. -
This is so f'kin funny im dead. After all this time, months and months, there is still no driver with official support for 7970m
AMD, do you have cancer ? Are you dying ?
When was the "fastest mobile gpu 7970m" launched ?
Hmm lemme check notebookcheck :
Date of announcement: 01.05.2012
Guess what, today is 27.09.2012
About 5 Months later and we still got no mizerable driver support for the 7970m
Are they crazy or what the fk ?
They'd better be burping out a driver before i'll be gettin my p370em with 7970m CF -
They do have one, but for some reason they want to keep it to themselves until an October release. This driver makes it so only 1-5% performance loss only. I don't understand why they won't release since a beta comes with disclaimer they are not responsible if blah blah happens and the driver is as is. They should just release it.
-
Hulawafu, I didn't expect this release to fix utilization issues. I expected it to support the 7000m series, which it doesn't. Yeah it "works" with the 7970m and has the new UI, but that is it.
-
My CCC version says 9/13/2012, though. Have you installed on yours? I'm curious what steps you took. I mean it is possible I didn't do it right.
-
recent news:
-
Nice to know it may be coming sooner than expected.
I also would like to know install steps. Do we install the whole thing, including the new catalyst control center? -
Well, in fairness to AMD (I can't believe I'm playing devil's advocate for them here), they did say that by the end of October is the deadline. So if it comes before that, they're merely fulfilling an unofficial promise (unofficial because it was through AnandTech and Tom's).
Anyway, who here has the latest UI and didn't come form asder's modded drivers? Can you please post how you did it and what was your previous driver version?
It's important that your previous driver wasn't asder's because it could have just carried over the UI. I did a clean install of the drivers without those cleaners and it does say I have the latest version for the graphics and CCC, yet it doesn't show the global control UI. -
I installed this, and have the old UI as well. I heard something about the new clevo bios enabling these settings, but I don't want to get rid of the sager bios.
-
I cannot get CCC to open, any suggestions?
-
Does f1 2012 work with these?
...tapatalk... -
Nope f1 2012 still doesn't work for me.
Instalation went fine , installed the intel driver first and than this driver. However underutilization issues are still present. Everything seems the same like the asders leaked driver a week or two ago, but I cannot overclock anymore. Msi afterburner is reading the card but , clocks are at zero. -
Lame...thanks!
...tapatalk... -
Anyone figure out how to get the new UI? I uninstalled, then used driversweeper in safe mode, then installed 12.9 beta, but still on the old UI.
-
So far I think the ones that got the new UI are the ones who previously used asder's modded drivers.
-
Just got the new UI working with the official 12.9 beta. Here's what I did...
I followed these steps from here: 7970M Enduro Issue - Page 5 - Rage3D Discussion Area
except instead of installing Catalyst 12.8 WHQL, I installed 12.9 beta
and instead of installing Catalyst Application Profiles 12.8 CAP2, I installed Catalyst Application Profiles 12.9 CAP1 -
Tying it now. Thanks! Will rep if this works out.
UPDATE: It works! The funny thing is that I did this exact same thing for 12.8/CAP 3 back when this very exact post (the one you linked to) was posted and it didn't work for me back then. I did it just now for 12.9/CAP 1 and it works. Weird. I'm 100% certain the CAP versions then and now were also matching with the drivers.
Another thing I'm wondering is why does it require these steps to have the new UI work? I thought the new beta was to "launch" the new UI. Shouldn't it have been right there after installing?
Anyway, it's nice to see the new UI. This is much better than before. This is my first time seeing this since I've never used asder's and Leschat's (sp?) modded stuff, and their UI looked different. -
Thats weird, I didn't go through so much trouble to get the new UI working, and I've not previously installed modded drivers, I was using Clevo ones. The way I did was:
1.- Uninstall AMD Driver via the control panel, select delete all AMD software option.
2.- Reboot
3.- Uninstall Intel HD Graphics driver (If any, In my case it got uninstalled when deleting AMD drivers
).
4.- Reboot
5.- Open device manager and make sure both Display Adapters say: Standard VGA Graphics Adapter
6.- Install official Intel HD Graphics 4000 Driver (Not clevo one).
7.- Reboot
8.- Install AMD Beta Drivers
9.- Reboot
10.- Done, got new UI .
Which version of intel drivers are you using? Maybe that's the problem. -
Following your instructions, I got the new UI without modifying anything. Turns out my Intel driver was from March, whereas the latest is from May.
However, after installing 12.9CAP1, the UI reverts back to the old style. -
You didn't install CAP 1?
Can I get a link to the Intel drivers? I have never updated mine. I was afraid that Intel would sabotage AMD and never make it possible for them to bring out working drivers that will fix Enduro. Lol. JK. But seriously, mine must be ancient.
And do I have to uninstall AMD again to install the new Intel?
UPDATE: I tried this: Intel® Driver Update Utility for graphics drivers
And it says my drivers are the latest. Weird.
Product Detected Intel® HD Graphics 4000
Current Driver Installed 8.951.6.0
Your driver is current. -
I didn't install CAP1, I see no need for it, but I'll try it and see what happens.
Here you can find Intel drivers.
According to AMD word, the major feature of the coming driver is the ability to manage AMD and intel drivers separately on switchable graphics enabled systems, so we don't have to wait so long for a tweaked version of the driver made by the manufacturer (In this case Clevo) to get things fixed and updated. -
LESHCATLABS.NET
I just did a clean uninstall, deleted everything. Installed latest from Leshcat with the new Intel drivers. Then installed this beta over it. Works fine, stable. Utilization won't be fixed for a bit though
-
I contacted AMD through a support ticket asking about the root problem and the response began with the following: "We have been told that the 7970M underutilization issue is being addressed in our 12.9Beta and 12.10 driver releases..."
So this points to a WHQL 12.10 driver that fixes utilization for the 7970m, and with the word now coming directly from AMD. Sounds good.
I also tried sending a message to amd.com/report which is where the driver team accepts info on bugs and issues. Hopefully they can respond. -
It's nice to see those AMD responses, I think they'll come around the Windows 8 release date.
Just installed AMD Catalyst Application Profiles 12.9 and also lost the New UI after installation, however, after uninstalling I got it back. -
What? 12.9 should fix Enduro? But now its 12.10? Getting mixed signals here
-
No one ever said 12.9 beta would fix Enduro. Just because a few, who visit rarely here, are clueless and disappointed that 12.9 beta didn't bring the fix that doesn't mean it was supposed to come. The deadline for the fix is the end of October. That's 12.10.
-
Guys, this is a bit old (18 SEPT), but its highly encouraging news and confirms what many have been saying, the good bit is that Jarred form Anandtech is very confident the underutilization issue will be fixed..
SOURCE: Anandtechs article, page 19 of comments
Even if its old post its great news!.we can hope for the best or keep on crying like many will anyway... lol
cheers

installation guide for me (how it worked)
uninstall everything ati related (with ati uninstallation application)
reboot
install ati 12.9
uninstall just the catalyst control center and install the 12.8 one (less buggy for me) and no more "no configurable parameters" you will still have the new enduro UI. -
why it needs .net 4.0?
Beta 12.9 is out
