Hello, I'm set on getting a P150HM/NP8150 soon
and I've been going back and forth looking at both malibal and xotic PC, comparing prices etc...

Now looking at both black friday RAM deals
which one do you think is better? free upgrade to faster 8GB 1333 to 1600 (Malibal)
or more RAM 8GB to 12GB 1333? (xotic).

and an extra question, how do they stress test and ensure all the components work properly before shipping with the no OS option selected?

DDR3 @ 1600 will give you about a 3% to 4% of performance increase in games.

If you don't plan on doing any virtualization / 3d rendering / photoshopping / etc. then I would suggest you go with the 1600mhz memory for a boost.

If you need 8GB (which I find hard to believe with the way memory usage is going now a days) then go with Malibal.

To answer your question the reseller probably has several ways of testing a burn in for the laptop. I know Dell's and Acer's have diagnostic utilities to stress test the systems that don't run on windows (run off a flash key and some version of *nix). They could also do a temp swap of a hard drive that has windows on it to run tests, and then swap a blank one back + ship it out once it passes QA.

Regardless you are in good hands ;) If it was me, I would spring for the 3 year warranty... cheap and it's good extra piece of mind.

those are 2670 vs 2760 with 8gb and 16gb..T_T im looking to see if 8gb 1600mhz is good with 2670. because i am definately getting the 2670QM with 8gb 1333mhz or 1600mhz... not more...

    or is 16GB 1333mh better than 8gb 1600mh on 2670QM?

You can go with the 4x2gb 1333mhz option and wouldn't notice a difference between that or the other ones. You'll be bottlenecked by mobile CPUs and GPUs before RAM is an issue. My old rig had just 2x2gb and handled Photoshop CS5 like a champ, thanks mostly to a 4ghz i7

So RAM doesn't make much of a difference, should go for faster 8 GB then.
I did see the other malibal deals, They look a lot better. 😃

@acroedd sorry... my dyslexia must be catching up with me (or the spiked egg nog). Sorry I got the CPU's mixxed up.

;) I'm typing this on my iphone as I stand in line @ BB for Black Friday >_<

**edit** and yes the freebies from malibal seem to be very generous this year.

Running on i7-2760Qm, which ram would you recommend for 3d rendering ? I was thinking of going with HyperX by kingston or Ballistik from Crucial .

The RAM itself doesn't matter much. The only real difference between brands anymore is support and reliability- timings, speed, etc have all become pretty similar. For that kind of work load, you may find 1600Mhz RAM advantageous. I'd just get whatever is most affordable :)

realiablity? does that mean known companies such as dell/asus/msi/hp have longer duration than sager? doesn't it all come down to how people use the computer? or with the same care and usage... is it still better duration for dell..etc?

i heard that known companies use GENUINE rams/harddrives/cpu... is that true? i mean i thought it was all the same...lol

Apples to Apples (figuratively not literally) it all comes down to how you treat your equipment. There will always be a machine that made it through QC that has an issue every now and then. That's why we have warranties :)

There are really only 4 hard drive manufacturers and 2 LCD manufacturers for computers (ok well major, lets say that). It all comes down to how the companies run their warranties (OEM or retail), and what parts they use to build their systems.

I've never heard of non genuine parts... that just is silly in my book  But I have heard of propritary parts, which Dell is most widely known for (which is a bad thing). Imagine one-off parts that will ONLY work in Dells... You have to be in the tech industry awhile to remember this, but Dell made custom PSU's that forced customers to buy only their parts. If you put a regular ATX power supply in their system it would FRY THE MOTHERBOARD (sucky)

If anything Sager / Clevo uses more GENUINE parts than other manufacturers in my opinion, this is due to the amount of parts they ship out each year (more of a boutique dealer) so they don't buy in bulk and have pre-arranged mass production of generalized equipment like say dell.... Again that's my opinion ;)
