So eurocom still has the 9800m Gt available for my clevo m860tu, the thing is, they're asking $720 CND for the Gt and and $390 CND for the Gts......Does it really worth the difference?
regards,
-

there is a performance difference, but that difference is most definitely not worth over 330CND. go with the GTS.
-
It would be nice to get a cheaper 8800m Gtx in second hand, but i dont seem to find one and the Ogg user didnt respond to my interest regarding one of his 8800m Gtx...
-
Man, I'd save the money and buy myself a nice T9800 instead and overclock the GTS. You'd get overall better performance on your lappy.

.
My laptop is a clevo m860tu, with the P9500, 320GB HDD 7200 RPM, 4 gigas ocz RAM and the whooping 9600m Gs 256 MB DDR3.....man i should have bought the thing with the 9800m Gt..... -

Hi Bluemercury. The price gap between the GT and the GTS has certainly widened from the last time I checked, and it is only going to get worse. If you can swallow 330 CAN more for a card that performs ~5% faster in games, then I'd say go for it. I would rather wait for the 9800M GT to reemerge as the GTX170M in a few months at a cheaper price than purchase the heavily inflated 9800M GT.

For performance/price, yes. You will get more performance per dollar with the GTS rather the GT. Speaking from my tax bracket, I would go for the GTS as the GT is simply out of the question, especially now that the price of the GT has inflated ridiculously high since its release.
The GTX170M is expected to simply be a resticker of the 9800M GT, if not improved a little bit. The M860TU can accept MXM-II, III, or, IV cards; the GTX170M will most likely be a MXM-IV card like the other 9800M cards. So yes, it is safe to say that it will be compatible. -
Although, I want to see some benchmarks first from Kevin_Jack to see if its worth even getting. -

There also seems to be in the clevo site, the 9800m Gts of 1GB DDR. I wonder how much will it cost compared to the 512 model
-
I would like to play games like dead space, fallout3, left4dead, and other more recent games, but i dont see any benchmarks for those games.

Bluemercury. Clevo's webpage is unfortunately plagued by lazy webmasters. I would give them the benefit of the doubt as they might not be proficient in English, but for them to rush job their product facts is unacceptable. For example, the specs for the Q9000 on the M860TU specs sheet were copy pasted specs from the Q9100.
As for the 9800M GTS with 1GB, I really don't know if this is true or not. Yes there are GTS cards with 1GB in production, but whether if Clevo will refresh the M860TU with them is a crapshot. Also, if Clevo were to put the 1GB GTS cards in the M860TU, it might pull potential customers away from the more expensive M570TU and D901C, in which both bear the 9800M GTX. -

not sure where this 5 percent performance increase stuff is coming from, but the 8800m gtx and 9800m gt will smoke a 9800m gts card. 64 sp vs 96 is no slight comparison. and the faster ones componets are.... the greater the distance from the gts card it will get. i had all 3 cards (9800m series) and ran gaming and benchmark test with them. and the gt's are not even that close to call it close. we ran plenty of benchmarks to prove this. you may mean the 512 & 1 gb gts card may be close to each other that is...but not close to a 8800m gtx or a 9800m gt. the best over clocked score you can get with a 9800m gts is about 11.1k to 11.3k 3dmark(x9000/x9100) could be a little more with a quad, but i seriously doubt it will catch a 8800/9800 (giving it a little room because i had an x9000 with it) a over clocked 9800m gt is 12.5k and a gtx is 13.5k. there is a reason for the price difference...you get what you pay for.with two upgrades of a vga card, you pay more on the second time around. best to get it right the first time if you can afford it. if not. get the lessor and then come back around and upgrade again. now it cost more than you just doing it now....
i would hunt for the 8800m gtx before i would buy a 9800m gts. considering the 9800m gts is basically the same exact card as the 8800m gts. every thing about the specs are exactly the same. (as far as i can tell) -
the amount video memory will NOT affect the overall performance.
512MB... 1024MB.... even 2048MB ...... will NOT mean crap as compared to the GPU core itself.
video memory has been a gimmick for a long time now since the Geforce 5/FX series.... to trick people in thinking that more memory makes a card better.
a 256-bit memory interface GPU like the 9800M's wont even utilize/address more than 512MB anyways. -
what would rather have, a honda accord (9800gts) or a toyota supra (9800gt).
-
i tried to contact them and they told me they dont sell separately....which is stupid considering that they have the price for the vga itself. -
I have currently had word that the last current price for the T9800 (2.93GHz, $530-$590). We will be placing this cpu into our Xtreme 620 (M860TU) in place of the T9600 we currently use.
It is highly unlikley that the GTX170M will be used in this chasse it is more likley going to remain as the following,
NV GeForce 9800M GTS / 9800M GS + GDDR3 1GB
NV GeForce FX2700M / 9600M GT + GDDR3 512MB
NV GeForce 9600M GS + GDDR3 256MB
I doubt there will be many upgrades to the current chasse models now apart from cpu types. I can not yet disclose details as to why but lets just say something very special is heading our way soon -
What i mean is should i wait or buy the Gts??? -
Is there a place to see the gts vs gt in games like left4dead, unreal tournament 3, fallout3, dead space.....etc...?
I really would like to see decent information on both of these cards.....running those games.
Big dielema, 9800m Gt vs Gts price.
