I just bought a GTX 680m upgrade kit for my Sager NP9280 (D900F) off Eurocom. The VBIOS has the right revision for Clevo (P370EM3....80.04.67.00.01) but, I can't install the Nvidia driver (387.92) for it because Nvidia update can't find the 680m.
If you think it could be something else, let me know what I need to do. Also when I go into device manager, it just shows Standard VGA for Windows or something like that. I can't find the 680m anywhere. Although, CPUZ recognizes it? GPUZ or HWmonitor does not see it.
My bios is on the latest "factory revision" available which is 1.00.09 and my EC is 1.00.04. This is more tham likely my problem since this only supports the 480m. I need a @Prema bios for my machine but he's a hard man to get up with. I know he has or had one from doing a search on NBR. I will throw some cash his way if he comes through for me.
If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm sure Eurocom will get back to me sooner or later but it's the weekend and going all weekend without my machine is a tough one to swallow.
Thanks,
Charlie

You need to mod your nvidia driver. I can help you out, just do the following:
- Tell me which Windows version you're running (7, 8, 8.1,10 or 10C)
- Go to your device manager, rightclick the GTX 680M, properties, details, look for hardware ID, copy the hardware ID and post it here.
Once u done that I can make you a custom .inf file. and tell u what to do.KY_BULLET likes this. -
I know its off topic for the thread but curious if the X5650 works in your laptop.
Otherwise yeah, just need to mod the inf in the driver and should be good to go.
Some people go to a website for it, some recommend against it. I never had the need to so far but I believe it was called laptopvideo2go or something along those lines.KY_BULLET likes this. -

If you ever went that route, if your laptop allows overclocking (Im ignorant to that model) then you might be able to hit 4.0Ghz consider some desktops take it as far as 5.2Ghz
Should be an interesting thought for later should you consider it.KY_BULLET likes this. -

Alright follow the instructions:
- Turn off your notebook or restart it, tap F8 until you get into the startup options from windows (safe mode etc.)
- Start with "Disable driver Signature enforcement"
- Download the this driver from Nvidia
- Once the install automaticly starts after you extracted it, cancel it (once u press cancel it will take a bit until it actually cancels)
- Go to the folder you installed your Nvidia driver (typically C:/NVIDIA/DIsplayDriver/387.92/Win8_Win7_64/International/Display.Driver)
- Download the file I attached, unzip it, replace it with the old one.
- Start setup, at some point windows will ask you if you want to install the non signature driver, and you click on "yes I'm sure."
- After install reboot your system.
- Enjoy your GTX 680M
You can also check the device manager if it installed it properly if you wantAttached Files:

If you did everything as written and it still give syou that error then use the file I put into attachement. It should work then. It seems that you have Windows 7 SP 1 and not windows 7.Attached Files:

In running Windows 7.
I will
-
Seems that Windows 7 and Windows 7 SP 1 are using different sections in the drivers. Which now makes sense considering there are 3 sections 2 for windows 7 and 7 SP1 and windows 8.KY_BULLET likes this. -

This still confuses me tho, I always thought 6.1 was w7, 6.2 was windows 8, 6.3 was windows 8.1 and 10.0 was windows 10.

Same error message...It's a Dell version of Windows 7 ultimate service pack 1 if this makes a difference.

Now this is interesting, do you have teamviewer?
It should defnitely work, so this is confusing me. I think windows might actually refuse to overwrite the file so I guess I'll edit it direcly via teamviewer.
If you don't like using teamviever then I can guide you through discord.KY_BULLET likes this. -

Can you download either teamviever or discord? Both are free.
Teamviever lets me control ur PC remotely so I could direcly work on it.
Discord is a voice program that lets us talk much like teamspeak, skype etc.
So either is fine so I can either do it myself or guide you through it.KY_BULLET likes this. -
I downloaded team viewer. Take over lol!

and open a notepad file So i can write something to ya.
Alright problem fixed, now i'd suggest downloading 3dmark 2011 and do a benchmark run, you can post ur result here so we can see if the card performs properlyLast edited by a moderator: Oct 14, 2017KY_BULLET likes this. -
I appreciate you helping me out. I will get some bench numbers and let you know if I see anything wrong with it. As of now, it's running like a champ. Highest temp got to 73c on firestrike demo.

Danish I too just purchase a GTX680M for my Clevo d900f--- i7 930--- windows 10 64bit. I follow this tread and was hoping the inf file you sent work work with win10. However I get the same error when attempting to down load the driver for the 680m. I did put the laptop in test mode through the command promt (I thought this was like safe mode for 10).
If you would be so kind as to give me some help with this. -
EDIT:

-Thank you this worked like a champ very greatful, I purchased this laptop new in 2009 and it has been a great machine until the video card went, now i can enjoy a few more years with it. I probably need to upgrade them memory though and maybe even the processor. But again thank you for your time...KY_BULLET likes this. -
yeah the system is still great, the desktop 1st gen I7 is still very powerful and with the GTX 680M you'll still be able to enjoy most games on medium/high settings with good frames.
You should be happy that you made a great buyKY_BULLET likes this. -
