    Hi all,

Started experiencing some serious issues with my 8150 couple of days back. Was playing a game halfway when the screen when all artifact-y on me and hung, after which subsequent reboots only gave me a black screen after the Windows logo.

Neither system restore nor system repair would fix the problem, so I did a clean install of Windows and all was good until I tried to install the drivers for my 6990M after which the black screen problem came back.

Can I safely conclude that my 6990M has bought the farm? :(

It could be overheating problems which will cause the computer to turn off because of the Thermal protection. Have you opened up the bottom of the computer to clean out any dust that has built up in the vents and fans.

If that doesn't work a re-paste my help. Also double check to make sure the fan is working.

Odd that a format/reload fixed the issue temporarily, until you installed the driver. You may want to try using a different driver next time, on top of said suggestions to help with heat flow. It is possible that the card bit the dust, but do check to make sure it's not software related.

    Good luck!
