I have a P775DM3-G with a 1060 and a 6700k. Recently I started getting a black screen (no bios or anything, fans and leds turn on and there's some hard disk activity) on the first boot of the day. If I wait 5 minutes and force a reboot it boots normally. If I reboot immediately I need 2-3 tries until it works.
Occasionally I also get a black screen when starting Xorg from the Linux text console (again, only on the first boot). I can restart normally using reisub. Here's a logfile in case it's helpful: https://pastebin.com/Yk044Hqc
It looks very much like problem with the 1060 to me, but I'd like to get a confirmation on that.

It does sound potentially like a wonky card. If you're comfortable with it, see if reseating it helps and check the contacts while you're at it - if needed, you can try cleaning them.

Could be a bad solder joint only working when warmer, usually the gpu is the culprit for this.

I had an issue like that in my old GT72VR. Graphics card ended dying.

That's a shame. Thankfully the 1060 shouldn't be terribly expensive. Good luck with the swap!
