Here they are folks. It arrived at 9:30 am this morning and I apologize about the time it too to get the pictures uploaded. Long story short my works network does not like certain sites.
Initial Impressions. OMG it is so pretty. Booted right up not problem and popped a 5.4 vista score due to me only getting a single HD, Another 7200 200gig is on its way from newegg as we speak.
Here are the photos! I'm not a professional.

Cool.. Any comments on the noise? Weight? yeah a Small Review would be great.. Looks like the Cover is gonna be a magnet for fingerprints..
Cant Wait for mine.. -
That sure is a mighty fine looking machine there sir!
-
Surprisingly the cover does not show many finger prints under normal lighting. The carbon fiber is inset into the cover with the pcmw logo in the center. It is finished extremely well.
It is Amazingly quiet. When I turned it on I had to double check to make sure that it was on. I'm sitting at my desk with it on now and even with the notebook cooler under it I cannot hear it at all.
The WUXGA Screen is absolutley gorgious. So crips and clear. And very bright.
It is lighter than I anticipated. It is still a beast but it is still very portable.
The Aluminum case that was included with it at no cost is nice. I shot a couple of photos of it. It fits nicely into the case with the power block and has a shoulder strap so carrying it will not be difficult.
Il try to construct a better review tonight when I get home and do not have the pressure of work. -
now you have to change your sig
come on test it out...
oh and take even more pics, it looks cool, although the only thing a bit off is that blue/orange MW initial, ithat looks out of place it should have been a sort of silver/onyx MW that wud have been cooler.
Much more my style, no fancy stupid keyboard lights and flashing LEDs, no offence kids to me that sort of stuff just looks tacky, this though looks sleek, i'm quite glad i actually chose pcmicroworks. -
That looks like a Sager NP9262. Can you tell us about config and price?
How is Blackhawk different? -
Thank you for the pics!
Really nice!
(Allthough i might agree with springernew on the colour issue. But that doesn't feel so important right now)
Really fast posting too. I'm glad you didn't leave the rest of us suckers behind now that you joined the cool guysI hope I will be one of you soon..
-
For me it was 4500$ but that was with black friday discount. My config (in sig. without OS, with AGN, Tv-tuner and 3 years warranty) is almost 1000$ more expensive now. This is the first and probably last time that i won in a price race against computer technology. -
whofirst announced there 8800 gpu system? wasn't it pcmicroworks? doesn't that make the sager taking after the blackhawk rather than the other way round? not that it matters off course.
i'd like to see many more pics if possible, it's looking nice, any extra stuff it came with that didn't quite get mentioned on the invoice? or aother particularly neat things you found about it, extra goodies etc? -
I too bought on the black Friday special and it still comes out cheaper than anyone else. I feel like deodot about the first and probably the last time I beat the price of technology. I saw it and jumped. When I ordered it I had the feeling the sli would be delayed so I opted for a single 8800 gtx and plan on upgrading when it is available.
-
Hows the keyboard flex? I'm mean is it nice and solid or does it bow when typing?
-
Hey. Nice photos. I got mine today also. VERY happy with the performace thus far.
I bought COD4 today, and its runs perfectly at 1900x1200 all settings high. The screen is perfect, no dead pixels, almost no light bleed at all. Also, amazingly quiet. Not quite as heavy as I expected, and mine has 3x200gb hdd's.
But I do not like the carbon fiber. I will post a photo later, but it was not layed perfectly, and there are very small gaps at the corners. Also, the MW logo in the center is kinda funky. Kinda wish they had gone another direction with the lid. I suppose its not bad for a inlayed job.
Having some trouble with my gigabyte agn wireless card. Cant seem to connect correctly through a public network, but it does connect, only locally, and no internet. I am used to setting up, and diagnosing networks on xp, so vista kinda confuses me. -

BMonk I had the same problem. I thought it was a driver issue so i reinstalled them with drivers from the net via a jumpdrive. It still didn't work then I remember a thread about the function keys. funtion key and f11 solved it for me.

Wow.. The Pics Look Nice, was a bit disappointed with the PCMW logo though.. However How big is the case that they have provided,, looks huge!
Waiting for u r review.. -
Can anyone post some pics that are not linked to imageshack. I am in Iraq and the government computers block a bunch of sites. It is killing me not being able to see some pics of what my computer will look like.
Thanks for all the info. -
congrats on getting ur machine!!! looks like money well spent to me =]

OHHHHHH MY WORD I AM DYING lol. Mine *should* be shipped either today or tomorrow and I could see it either tomorrow or thursday.....omg omg omg omg omg omg I am going nutz! lol
Such a long wait.
Nice pictures! The lid looks good to me except the colors of thier logo. Like mentioned earlier it would have been nice to see those different colors.
Either way I am excited. Time to toss this old P.O.S. alienware in the river!
Hows the gaming performance? Any issues with the drivers or anything like that? -
Come on... someone post some pictures I can view.... My government computer blocks imageshack.
-
I can't wait, but it looks like next week for me maybe??
I'll have to give them a call.
Awesome Crazy Habib, I was so excited to see your post. Did they throw in any extra goodies for the delay to make up for it?

Arghhhh.. Not shipped yet
..
What is the Internet Wireless issue that you are having.. -
-Coors916 -
I got it working on my home network somehow last night. but it seems to be doing the same thing you are having and I was having. This is my first Vista 64 computer, hell its my first time with Vista in general. I'll give pcmw a jingle here in a few minutes to see what I;'m doing wrong... lol I know it works I had it working last night on home network.
-
Ok Bmonk I think I have it licked.
When connecting to a network
Right click the network icon on bottom right and click conect to a network.
Select the network you want and connect. That's the easy part.
It will connect and say "Local Only" when you hover the mouse over it.
Now, right click and click Network and sharing center.
The next picture will pop up on what it will look like when it comes up. Click the network icon, In my case it was named "MINI of The Woodlands".
( It does not seem to want to display my screen shot. ) There are 3 icons, Your computer, The Router, and The Internet. You want to click on the router one , which is the middle Icon.
when I click that, the network box appeared. Then a little yellow bar appeared under the bar that says Organize , Views, Network Sharing Center and Add a Printer. It looked like the little active x box that appears in internet explorer when security is enabled.
When I clicked that bar a new window came up. I'm going by memory at this point since I cannot seem to find how to adjust it. It asked me where this net work was and had a home, work, and one other option to choose. I clicked work and now everything works. Almost like it had to finish creating a profile for the network.
I hope this helps Bmonk -

Sighhh.. Just got off the phone with PCMW, expected shipping for my system moved to Wednesday.. Seems there was an issue with the supply of batteries..
Seeing the pics make me want it even more... -
I have to say I'm more than a little angry with the quality of PCMicroworks service. I ordered my Blackhawk Nov 20th, and I have two friends who ordered them mid-December with identical specs and they just received theirs today. I've been on the phone with them several times and each time it's "We're delayed, we'll ship it within the next 3 days." Unfortunately this has gone on for a month now. After asking them to cancel the order, they say it will take longer for us to get the credit back on the credit card than to get the laptop. Finally, I had my dad call them(it was his card) and he had to threaten to get the credit card company involved. They told him it was going to be delayed AGAIN! I sure hope this thing arrives looking as good as the pictures on the first page, because it's been an ordeal to get the thing. Is anyone else having this problem with them?
edit: They say we're guaranteed to have it by Saturday. -
Below is the email I just received when I pressed them on my system:
Hi Kelly:
We have been running into logistics problems with the new 8800 cards, but we are doing everything in our power to get these systems shipped as soon as possible.
NVIDIA has not supplied us with enough cards to fulfill even a small fraction of our orders and we are also running into problems with the supply of battery packs for the XR5s. At this point I can safely say that we should have this unit out no later than next week and we will be overnighting your system so you should have them in your hands by the end of next week. Sorry for the continued delays; this is frustrating on our end too as we have little to no control over the aforementioned items. Your system is in production at this point and just awaiting the final testing once the parts have arrived so it could ship any day now. I will keep you posted and with any luck provide tracking information soon.
Thank you for your patience!
Sincerely,
Thomas Matthews

As far as them saying about the credit, its probably true. If the laptop could be here in a the next couple of business days then yes the laptop would be here faster than the 5-10 or whatever business days they have to perform a refund. Even still, if you order one from a different company I highly doubt you would get it by Saturday either.
I am still standing by my purchase and PCMicroworks. Until I have an experience similar to falcon's I won't consider them as an untrustworthy company. I would advise people to develop their own opinions from their own experiences with them. -
I have not received my system yet. I am still waiting. Right now other members have received their 9262's with a single 8800 and is running fine under Vista x64. The second 8800 will not be shipped until nVidia finishes the driver and SLI bridge for the mobile platform. This is not a PCMW problem, but affects all resellers.
-
At this point, I can't yet say that the entire PCMW experience has been terrible. I spoke to Thomas when I placed my order and he was more than helpful and explained why there could be potential delays and that it may actually take until now for the laptop to ship. What was frustrating to me is that they were telling me it was going to ship when they didn't have the parts yet. That aside, some simple pressure from the person giving them the money seems to have done the trick. That's something to be expected from all companies, really. This system is obviously a higher-demand item than they can meet. They are offering my specific customization of the laptop at the only price I can afford, and I won't write them off until I get a unit that isn't high quality. I'll be posting here Saturday evening after I pick up the laptop from my parents` house, so we'll see how it goes. As for your situation, Falcon, that's really unfortunate and PCMW does have a responsibility to provide more polite service reps and more timely service. However, I can't see that they are at fault for everything. I'm sure they didn't know that the components they shipped you were going to fail. We'll have to wait to see if there are other users having the same problems you did. If that turns out to be the case (or if I get a bum laptop), I'll never order from PCMW again. If everything turns out fine, I'll consider them if they're the cheapest for what I want, but definitely with reservation.
-
WHere did you get the case. Me like it. I want one.
-
I am sure they will meet my expectations. Oh and by the way, I paid cash at the start of December 2007 already.
EDIT: Removed my quote and trimmed my response to keep thread on track - my opinion not relevant in this sense of the opening post.
The Blackhawk XR5 is far more interesting!!! -
-
man, i really wanted to hear more about the new XR5 and see more pics and how the system is working from the first impressions of those who've recently received theirs.
My only concern atm is that i may have to wait much longer than the promised time of delivery although i'm told it should ship between tomorrow and wednesday latest.
Before i bought the system I actully googled for reviews on the Black-hawk and was hoping to find something more on what people's experience was, i wud not have clicked on this post because it's about photos not customer experience. AFter i purchased i did find a review of an old PCMW machine, it wasn't a good one, but i'm not naiive toassume that because a system gets a good review the next one would be good or vice versa.
Can you guys talk more about your new black hawk and some of the tests and general feel, also i've heard many issues exist with Windows vista 64-bit, so i'm a bit worried whether i should go to Windows Ultimate, but i also know that it wud be a while before vista starts running really well. Just ignore the rants for now while in this topic and take them to another thread, just write twice as much about your new laptop.
is it really as good as equivalent desktop? -
Getting a good system that works according to specs and for the money you bought it for came with lots of goodies is what's important by far to me.
I want my system to work well, with high quality parts, and given the money i paid some sweet extras, i read a post or 2 with someone commenting they were quite pleased with extra goodies that surprised, i extensively looked at wat sager and rocko were offering (although i rather prematurely did that after i'd made the purchase), in the end i was satisfied that the package was quite good, and speaking to the sales team so far has yielded some nice extra stuff.
Off course i'll believe it when I see it, i've dealt with FARRR too many sales teams before, it's like reading a second language you gotta know how to interpret what you hear, after a few expereinces you get the hang of it.
I again have gone for dual, and agreed to get my system with a sinlge card when the second card has been guaranteed it would ship to me as soon as it's received.
So i'd like to know in the meantime, how it's holding up with the single card...any comparisons to 7950s yet? The comments about the screen sound very exciting, i've never had a 1080 dpi monitor or even seen HD in play before. i remember seeing a really nice dispaly on a £1200 laptop at a CEX store in tottenham court road, it looked really crisp and clear, i bet that was HD, the laptop i bought around that time was no where near as shiny
basically do games look much better on those HD screens? are laptop monitors worse than equivalent desktop monitors. Do games look much better by simply changing the screen? i know they should look better, but much noticeably? I'm really anticipating the importance of a good screen, looks are everything !! HOpefully high grade parts should give high grade quality output -
I have a blackhawk with dual 8700's and I think it is time for me to send it back in for an upgrade and new carbon fiber =p. That thing looks sweet.
-
I ordered mine with vista business 64 and I have not run into any issues yet.
I installed crysis last night and was playing for a few hours with no problem at 1600 resolution and I told it to optimize iteself and it put it all the HIGH. Fans sped up to full speed, you can hear them but they are hardly and annoyance especially if you are using a good set of noise cancling head phones, couldn't even hear my wife watching tv in the background =P.
The screen is absolutley gorgious. On my desk top I have a 24 inch lcd I run at 1900x1200 too. I find the glossy LCD is crisper and more vivid.
I have not had experience with dual 7950's but I downloaded the basic version of 3d mark and popped a 10070 score with the stock drivers. I do not plan on changing the drivers until i read more positive things about the other ones.
I play EVE ONLINE and with the new premium content client and 1920x1200 resolution and extreme settings I do not drop below 35 fps in even the most populated regions. This game is direct x 10 also.
If there is anything anyone wants me to check out with vista 64 game or app wise just hollar and Il give it a whirl. -
Guys,
Please keep this thread on track. I had to delete ~25 posts. In the future, please keep arguing and brand bashing off the foruma and please report those kinds of post instead of replying so it does not get out of hand.
Thx and congrats on getting the BlackHawk XR5.

Hi Crazy Habib,
Hows the sound quality, I mean throug a good set of headfones, did ya test the sound? Also how are the Laptop speakers? Also another silly question how can you connect the system to a 5.1 system? I have a Pioneer 5.1 theater system and was wondering if I can connect the lappy?
Mayb its an early question, how satisfied are you with the performance? -
oh yeah, how's the souond quality..the standard srs surround sound stuff they say is 8-channel, i've got a 7.1 creative cambridge works at home, AND i've got a 6.1 decoder, i also intend to use the laptop with my keyboard and cubasis software, i might have to get an external sound card for more advance musical applications.
-
Back to the topic, I think it looks pretty cool. Again I am not too crazy about the MW logo colors but I think I will have to wait and see it in person. I could be wrong but the pictures don't seem to do it justice? What do you guys think? Have any of you seen these pictures first and then recieved your laptop and thought "the pictures didn't really do it justice!"?
I am just dying to get mine. It *should* be here Saturday but I am mindful to another possible delay. -
Crazy, (or anyone else that recieved their XR5) does the notebook cooler work well? Have you checked the differences in temps and such? I am just curious because I was thinking about getting a "better" cooler in the future to baby it but if the one they ship is good enough for now I wont worry about it
Any impressions so far on the cooler in general? Solid? Needs rubber feet or pads? Anything weird like that you think could be better?
I'm jealous! I am dying to start gaming again! -
Is the notebook cooler really needed? My system is coming with it since I went with the 3 year diamond coverage, but I have never used one in the past and my understanding of the 9262 is that it runs very cool. Of course no one has a SLI machine yet.
