    Hi everyone,

i've decided to start a new thread for this problem. So here are the informations:

I own a Clevo W860cu (bought dec 2009) and updated from GTX280M to HD6970M. I've used this guide to mod the heatsink -> Clevo W870CU
Everything went very smooth and i've done the first tests. So far every game i've tested, runs very stable.
Except for Crysis 2 and Heaven DX11. When i play it, i'm receiving a blackscreen after a while of gaming/benchmarking. Screen went black and i can still here the sound of the game. Only thing i can do when this happens, is a hard shutdown.
Temps are totally ok while gaming (GPU 77 degrees, MEM 86 degrees, Shader 84 degrees) and i dont have any suggestion where the problem could lie.
I covered every parts with 15W/mK Thermal pads, also the parts on the back Kris mentioned in his guide.
The last problem i can see is that theres a problem with the PSU, im still using the stock 120W PSU or one of the parts that are not covered anymore by the heatsink.
Im using the 720QM i7 CPU with 4 GB of Kingstom DDR3 1333 RAM.

Does anyone have some other suggestion where the problem could lie?

Have you gone mad? It's clearly connected to the PSU.

    The 6970M (~85W) + i7-720QM (45W) = 130W just on those two parts.

    You need a 180W PSU.

Besides the PSU-thing, is the 6970m an engineering sample?
I had two of them in crossfire when I first got my X7200, and had some blackscreens, one of them was in Unigine Heaven Dx11...
After changing to "regular" cards, the problem disappeared...

Kris from mxm-upgrade.com had ansured that this is not an engineering sample. He had some issues with blackscreens when he had done his guide and said that he had used a engineering sample.

I think too that this is a power related issue...so i need to upgrade PSU.

Edit: Im still a little bit unsure of the PSU. Why occurs the problem everytime after a while (5 to 15 minutes) of gaming and not instant after the game starts. And why is it only at crysis 2 and heaven dx11? I've played Witcher 2 for couple of hours and everything is fine....

I've lowered the Voltage of the Card under Full Load to 0.91V (1.1V original).

Heaven DX11 also quit but it take much more time. The benchmark was at step 23 of 26....i think we got a winner.

The PSU! Tyr to order a 180 or 220 W PSU on Monday
