    Hey guys,

I have been busy recently and have just recently got to test some REALLY expensive slim Blu-Ray and HD-DVD drives for notebooks.

Finally, standardized hi-def drives for the masses. :)
(...for those that can afford it)

As you might have seen, some Clevo resellers (like Hypersonic-PC) are already giving the option to get a Blu-Ray drive for the notebooks (pretty much for all current and new Clevo models across the board).

:D The Blu-Ray drive comes in two flavors: :D
(and yes these come in both black or beige)
Panasonic Blu-ray UJ-215 Slimline Slot Load
Panasonic Blu-ray UJ-210 Slimline Standard Drive

    Pricing: about $800-1000

As for the slimline HD-DVD ROM, it has been included on many notebooks already, but will soon be installed it in some Clevo models as well. I was holding it, looking at it, and thinking... "I better not drop this" :) The IC looks very standard, so it should fit and work with all the Clevo models as well [as the Blu-ray drives]. I did not get the time to install it in any Clevo notebook, but I will ask someone to do it for me.. then I'll give final confirmation.

P.S. If the prices go down enough, I might just have to get 1 of each drive for my notebook [which as dual optical drives]... I could have the first HD-DVD and Blu-ray notebook :)

Dang, those $800 drives sure look juicy to have! :D lol. But, I think its great that this is included, but only for the people with deep pockets, and people with 17'' notebooks w/ WUXGA, to get the full benefit, that is.

    And you're saving for a dual-core Opteron?!?!!?! ;)
