I dont understand
it happened almost everytime
every now and then,
my sager N9750V
will go to blue screen saying stuff like
Driver_<something>_<something>_Failure
<and a lot more>
<But i didnt read it>
and then it will just do a countdown and then restart the computer
and this happens RIGHT AFTER i boot up the computer
and vista just started.
Is there something I can do to fix this?
-
Vista sucks real bad. Much slower than XP. May be you need to update the corresponding driver which pops up in the blue screen error. (example: xxx.sys file name)
-
Sorry to hear.
I had Vista Ultimate on my D900K a while back. I did not like it.
So I am now happy with my XP Pro, until Vista gets to Service Pack 1 and/or improves their compatibility & optimizations... then I will re-consider to switch over.
As for the BSODs:
- did you install the official Vista drivers for your notebook?
- try to uninstall any third party (anything not Microsoft) programs that is in the startup like:
-- Antivirus, Firewall, Spyware/Malware removers, etc...
I ran into issues with stuff I wanted to use, but Vista didnt like it. -
Vista Hasn't ever crashed on me not even once so far.. A program running in vista on the other hand isn't true.. and Vista doesn't run that much slower the XP or else I wouldn't be running it in the first place.. but I would not wish vista on anybody unless they are willing to learn how to work with it diffrently.

Are you running AVG anti-virus by chance?? I got BSoD's everytime on boot until I removed AVG. Now everything runs like buttah again!
-
i was running AVG
but now im not running anything
i installed avast
but then it cant even activate properly
hmmm....
so its not my com problem then?
its vista's problem? -
It happened again this morning
and it states
Rtlh86.sys
whazzat????
what am i supposed to do with that info?
and i dont see such system at all in my driver thingy
can anyone help me? -
Rtlh86.sys is a realtek LAN driver... I have rtlh64.sys for vista 64.. you have the x86 for vista 32..
ftp://209.216.61.149/cn/nic/Vista_RTL8168_8101E_8169_6193_070606.zip
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...n=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true
look under gigbit PCI for the driver.
Last updated... version 6.193 2007/6/6 -
so ill just download and install that and it'll be fine?
(btw, i can just choose to download from any of those 2 sources you gave me right?) -
they are the LAN drivers.. if they are the drivers causing the problem then yeah.. it may fix your problem.. if not if could be something that triggering the adaptor to error out.. Both links are the same just one points to the web page of the link on realtek web site and the other points to the download itself.
-
Hmm
just as i was installing it,
it went to the blue screen again
it says this time
error 0x0000007C
i have no idea whazzat -
well in order for it to install it must uninstall the old driver.. it sounds like something really off with your LAN driver as it doesn't even want to release the driver properlyh... are you even using your LAN adaptor.. if you are try to install the new drivers without it being connected.. or try to to disable the adaptor in safe mode. I am not sure if you can install it in safe mode but that sucks. in any case if you could replace the driver in safe mode without networking support as this would disable all your lan drivers then you might be in luck.. your quite in a jam but at least you go something to go on.. if this fixes your problem then your in luck.

I think you can going into Safe Mode to uninstall the LAN in the Device Manager and then install the new drivers (all of this inside of Safe Mode)
-
oh alright
ummm, im just looking for the driver actually
i dont know which is the one
can you direct me?
what i did was
1st - right click my computer > properties
2nd - device manager
3rd - go to NETWORK ADAPTERS
and there should be 2 files there
file A - 802.11 MiniPCI Wireless Network Adapter
file B - Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family PCI Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)
im assuming its the file B that i need to uninstall right?
so i just double click that one
and go under driver and click 'uninstall'
(I havent tried it yet)
(but i was thinking 2 things before i do this)
1st - can you uninstall in normal mode? (dont have to go to safe mode)
2nd - cant you just update driver instead of uninstalling it? -
You should do this all in Safe Mode (to prevent BSODs)
After you uninstall it, it should disappear from the Device Manager.
Then highlight anything in the Device Manager and
go to ACTION > Scan for Hardware Changes
Windows should detect a new device, and hopefully will ask you for the driver [location]. Direct the location to the new driver and let it install.
If Windows does not ask for the driver, then right-click on the Realtek Gigabit and choose UPDATE DRIVER, and direct that to the location of the new drivers. -
yeah.. you may want to download the driver only in a zip.. instead of the exe that is the auto installer... vista came with built in drivers for this nic so it will most likely just reinstall it on hardware scann instead of asking for driver locations.. so update driver through device manager is your best option if you got the drivers with inf sitting unziped somewhere on the system.
-
yep
i got the uninstaller with the .exe thingy
in 1 file
btw, i tried uninstalling it in safe mode
it still gives me that blue screen
i cant uninstall it at all
should i just update it without uninstalling it? -
AND can you do me a favor:
Get HiJackThis, and Run a Scan.
Post the list all of the startup processes and services that are found by Hijackthis
It can help me determine the issue as well. -
Wow.. not being able to remove something even in safe mode is a big issue... have you tried to start without networking support in safe mode? Gophn suggest you get HiJackThis.. Its good to see if something is highjacking you nic...
extract the driver zip into some folder..
after you extract the zip is a folder "WINVISTA\32" Folder is the drivers where you can try to install via the update driver option in device manager.. -
oh man
i did what gophn says
uninstall in the safemode
but the thing is
when i scan for hardware changes,
it installs BACK the same vista drivers
after that,
i tried to update it and direct it to the file
but then it just state that it already has the most UPDATED file -_- -
Tell it you will choose a driver to install.. and manually select the new driver from the folder.. don't let windows choose what driver to install.
