I got a sudden Bluescreen the other day on my P157S while installing a Java JDK. But I hadnt shut of my laptop in a few days, only using sleepmode. Can this cause random system crash in windows?

Ive ran Prime 95 for a while, nothing happened, iva also used memtest86.

    Thanks.

The install file itself may also have been corrupt and done something odd, I would worry if it happens again with another program.

    Thanks man.

Yes I have the SSD that came with my pc, Intel 5 series 120gb(something) and i checked its the latest firmware.

Here is what WhoCrashed had to offer:

On Tue 10/22/2013 12:08:35 AM GMT your computer crashed
    crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\102213-7488-01.dmp

This is info correct with the same info as my Reliability Monitor in windows.

Well it is a file system error but that could be caused by a corrupted install file.

Pretty much, blue screens can happen if a piece of software does something really stupid, so unless it happens with more than one program it can easily be a software issue.

It's Java we're talking about. ;) I'd lean more towards the bad install file Meaker alluded to, rather than anything worth major concern. Have you since tried updating it? If you get the blue screen again, remove Java altogether, then (if you still need it) download the updated version and install it standalone.

Yes I fixed it right after the bluescreen.

BTW I didnt mention this. But during install it just froze and I heard a "helicopter" sound and it rebooted. I didnt see the actual BLUE screen : P But on startup it said it recovered from a system/fatal error and it said Bluescreen in the desription it left.

But i guess this is the same thing.

Sometimes the restart happens before the blue screen can display.

Yeah, some memory dumps are completed quick enough to not display any BSOD. Glad it's working fine now though!

Okay, so it seems something strange is still going on. I just had a recent freeze, but no BSOD came and it was just the freezed screen forever. So i had to shut of manually. And no report was created. Nothing is seen in WhoCrashed or reliability history.

This has happened twice since i made his thread.

Errors that occur seemingly at random over long intervals are very tricky to diagnose, it could be a specific software issue or a very rare occurring hardware issue. Keep task manager open and see if there are any signs of programs acting up.

I recently tried HoN(video game) and randomly while playing I see the HDD light indicator blinking fast like a buffer and the game stops completely, but I can hear my skype talking etc.

These freezes last for like 4-5 seconds.

HoN was installed recently, so the BSOD and the other freeze did not came after installing HoN.

Only I can recall is Crysis 1. Gets the same awkward hang/ buffer.

I forgot to say this, all my games are installed on my secondary HDD while my OS is installed on my SSD. So it would make sense thta my HDD indicator blinks at the same time the buffer/ hang comes up. But the system freeze wont be affected by this if my HDD is bad when OS is on SSD?

Maybe do a RAM test tonight o/s

This does not happend in other games, as far as I know tho.

    Ty.

EDIT: Im also planning on doing a fresh install later, switch to W8

The same shyt happened right now. I was using Vue(3d software) and I did a sudden thing, and EXITED the window that followed and suddenly the program froze and the mouse-load-icon appeard. I tried to open task manager and then it froze.

    Is it RAM?

Sounds like either RAM or the disk.

Apparently not. Ran memtest86 for 6 hours and 6 passes. No errors.

    Maybe CPU???

Memtest can't pick up on all memory related errors.
