    Hi,

I just received a Medialink USB Bluetooth Version 4.0 adapter (model no. MUA-BA3), and installed the software in order to use it. It seems like it's working fine, but the bluetooth indicator on the P150EM/NP9150 doesn't light up, even though the bluetooth adapter is lit. Also, I can't turn it on and off with the Fn+F12 combination. Does anybody know if this is normal or if I can fix this? Thanks!

EDIT: Normally, when I shut my lid, it puts the computer to sleep. However, this did not happen when I shut the lid, and when I opened it, the screen wasn't even lit. I had to force shut down the computer. I'm thinking the bluetooth adapter kept it awake? Except I didn't even have the adapter plugged in... The bluetooth icon still showed in the system tray, however. Was it a bad install possibly?

Possibly a bad install, sure. Try re-installing the BT software again, see if your adapter plays well then.

Have you had issues with your laptop going into sleep mode before? I also noticed you had an SSD, is there a reason you have sleep mode enabled with an SSD?

Alright, I'll plug it back it and see if anything goes wrong, and if so, I'll uninstall and re-install the BT software.

Possibly once before, I don't remember. I think in the power options it's on by default to sleep when the lid is shut. I know I can change it, I just haven't lol.

EDIT: Just plugged it back in, and everything seems to be working fine. At first, I right clicked on the tray icon and clicked "turn adapter off," and it wouldn't. Now, however, when I clicked "turn adapter off," it shut off correctly, and when I disconnected the adapter, it disappeared from my system tray as it should.

Still, the bluetooth light on the right of the laptop doesn't light up... And the Fn+F12 combination doesn't work either. Is that only for built-in bluetooth, or should it work even if I have an adapter plugged in?

According to my vendor, the Fn+F12 hotkey only works with onboard bluetooth adapters. I had a BT USB adapter and it didn't work, but sure enough when I installed a new NIC that had onboard BT, the hotkey worked.

This is correct. The lights and hot keys only function for internal parts.

That being said they are also limited to part type.

For example I had an Intel BT/WiFi combo card, both lights worked great.

Got an Killer N 1202 Combo card, BT light works, WiFi does not... Is bios issue that won't get fixed for me ever due to EOL laptop, but hotkey works so hey.
