I was in Windows and I got a pop up saying something about my drive not going to work so I should back up everything. I didnt really pay attention to it but it said to back up anything and thought if I restarted the computer it would go away. But now im in the Sager boot up screen and I cant get past where it sais F2: Setup or F7: Boot Options. I have a Intel SSD drive and an additional 500GB hard drive. I dont mind formatting windows but I cant even hit F7 nothing happens... Any ideas?
-
if it had been an ocz i would of understood but not sure about intel ssd's
keep pressing F8 on startup and see if it will let you into safe mode. -
im finally able to get into the boot options i kept hitting fn and a bunch of buttons and got lucky... problem now is I cant format the C: drive it wont let me ... the ssd drive is not even showing and only the 500gb is showing, however if i try to format and install windows on that it sais “Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information."
Is it possible the SSD failed I only had this laptop for around 8 months? -
Yes the SSD could be failing, or maybe there is an issue with the SATA port.
Have you tired swapping the 2 drives ? -

From all i have read Intel are not the quickest but are one of the more reliable brands. Is this the one you have?
Amazon.com: Intel 320 Series 300 GB SATA 3.0 Gb-s 2.5-Inch Solid-State Drive Retail Box: Computers & Accessories
And did it cost over $500 US? (was it used or could it be a knock off?) -
my work ocz ssd died within 3 months so if intel are dying as well (even though its only a few so far) they may not be as relible as first imagined.
your reseller will be able to replace your ssd under warranty so get an rma off to them. -
If you purchased your Intel SSD separately from your order, then you should directly contact Intel for support. It's likely to alarm them, and they will definitely take care of you.

I set up an RMA with Sager since im still under warranty with xoticpc.com ... Crazy how an intel ssd just dies
-
You seem to fall in the very small percentage of failed Intel SSDs. No product is perfect, but Intel SSDs have the absolute lowest fail rate of any SSD manufacturer out there right now. Hopefully the replacement will be a shining example of Intel SSD reliability.
Don't forget to install the Intel SSD Toolbox 3.0. Link here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18455 (use the top download link)
On another note, I personally have three Intel SSDs (1x X-25M, 2x Intel 320 Series) in three different machines (one is in a Playstation 3!) and they are awesome! They're not the fastest, nor the biggest, but I have had 0 issues--and the no problem factor is the biggest one for me. -
I seem to have the same problem as you. I have been going crazy trying to figure out what is happening. Have a 120g SSD intel. I think im getting to the bottom of it, thanks to the useful toolbox link. All this started with some under performing and or grounded electrical outlets while travelling and static.
-
yeah, static for any electronics will definitely kill them quickly. -
Hope you have a better outcome with the replacement SSD. I have an Intel 320 Series 120gb SSD that I purchased last month and hopefully it will last a good long while. Fortunately, Intel provides a 5 year warranty on most of them.
