Hi fellow laptop lovers,
I've bought a Clevo (BTO) W150HR and installed windows 10 Pro and latest Intel/Nvidia drivers on it.
It doesn't seem to switch to integrated graphics. I've read the manual and none the wiser.
VGA button is orange = optimus enabled
BUT the small iGPU indicator light never turns on even when I set preferred gpu in Geforce drivers to iGPU. Why doesn't this work? The iGPU is very important because this laptop will be used on the go.
Greetings,
MK

Do both the Intel and Nvidia GPUs show up in GPU-z? If so, which of them seems to show GPU usage when you do something 3D-ish? Try set preferred GPU and then observe GPU usage. Note that some programs like MPC-HC are forced to always run on the Intel GPU.
Also, in Optimus (when it is working) the Intel GPU is always on. The Nvidia GPU only turns on and helps with processing and sends stuff to the Intel GPU to display. -

-GPU-Z sees both.
-Furmark stresses dGPU
-Even when no program is running indicator light for iGPU does not turn green
-VGA button does nothing. -
Does Intel GPU have any load on it? Try press Windows + Tab or swing some windows around to stimulate it.
For the light/button to work, maybe you need to install some other Clevo utilities/drivers?Mkkillah likes this. -
Lol it seems to stimulate the iGPU. So optimus is probably working just the button and the lights aren't. Cool!
Thanks for the help! I don't really care about the button and the lights.
I've got another question. Does anyone know where to find the newest W150HRM drivers? Clevo only has drivers for windows 7 and the mirrors don't even work. Things like touchpad, card reader, audio etc.
In particular the Audio driver+THX trustudio PRO AP program. Can't find it and the one that I did find told me it couldnt find a compatible device.
Thanks,

I updated my laptops and tablets to windows 10x64 without downloading any driver from manufacturers . I use "Device Manager" - Driver Update instead , it will find the correct driver for your device
Go to Control Panel - Device Manager - Right click on "unknown device" or sth like that and select search driver online
As for Nvidia Opimus , you can turn off dGPU completely via Nvidia Control Panel -
No synaptics touch device software for gestures. (2 fingers for scrolling etc.)
Also no THX trustudio Pro software which gives way better sound.
I'll have to test your suggestion for turning it off completely. -

Please note that Nvidia Share comes with Geforce Experience and it's enabled by default whether you like it or not
Either disable them or change Nvidia Profiles should fix the problem
You can see what program is using your GPU by clicking on that "Desktop" (Nvidia CP) and select "display GPU activity in notification area"
It should look like this :

There's no Windows 10 BIOS for this model (that I know of), but updating the firmware might help with some drivers/utilities, too.Mkkillah likes this. -
