Yea,that`s pretty much what I`d like.
Add another 8800M GTX and sugar and you`re good to go.

I plan on it, (Adding the other 8800), however, that would cause serious wife aggro :(

if you downgrade the CPU to Q6600.... it might help alleviate the cost.

the performance difference between the Q6600 and the Q6700 is not noticable for most day to day usage and gaming.

Only CPU intensive work, like Media (Audio, Video, 3D) rendering/converting/editing would make a difference.

Well, im in a band, and use adobe audition for recording and mixing basic stuff, so hopefully i use the little extra processing power. Too bad the new quadcore option wasnt there when i ordered, or i woulda got that....do you think the new quadcore theyre offering isnt worth the $? Plus, i already am using the system (Came ups today) :D

Also, as far as I know (which ain't too far, sometimes :D ), the Q6600 is OC'able on the 9262 while the Q6700 isn't ('tho that may have changed for all I know) - if you're into OC'ing, that might affect your choice.

EDIT: In terms of comparing the Q6600 and Q6700 to the Q9450 (which, I presume, is the "new quadcore" option you mentioned earlier) and the Q9550 (not available yet - may never be, no-one knows), here is a reasonably decent article on hardwarezone.com that does just such a comparison. To cut right to the chase, here's the penultimate concluding paragraph:

You you down grade from q6700 to q6600 you migh even get a boost in performance. Some people riged the q6600 to run from 2.4 GHz to 3GHz.

    Oh I see.

Well there is a 30-day full satisfaction warranty.

    I still recommend:
    - to contact Justin@XoticPC if you have any questions
    - but since you have your system... and the specs look amazing, it up to you if you want to upgrade the CPU for less than 10% of performance.

ajbrutico I was in the same boat. After three weeks receiving my NP9262 the new CPU's came out. I called sager (bought through xoticpc) it would have not been no problem returning my laptop, but I decided to keep my Np9262. 2 reasons.

    1. to lazy to repack and ship
    2. attached to my laptop (to much crap to load again).

btw...I would just have to pay for shipping. both ways...hope that helps

Thanks MrBlur, just out of curiosity, how easy is it to replace these processors yourself? I've never done a processor change in a laptop, just videcards...

Don't worry too much about the CPU, I'm fairly confident prices will drop when the new q9x series hit the mainstream.

its very easy to replace these CPUs... like you would on a current LGA775 desktop motherboard.

Don't they have to be special CPU's though? I can't just order a Q9450/Q9550 off the egg and then install it can I? I would imagine prices would be higher if you have to purchase them from a reseller..

Im still holding out for the Q9550 off of Xotic.. hopefully it's still coming.

If I recall... isn't the new "mobile" Intel Quad specs weaker than the 9450/9550? If so I doubt that would have much effect on the prices of those two.

Yeah you can just install any LGA775 socket CPU as long as it's within the wattage limit (which I don't know offhand :/)

Well they do, but they can't fit the thermal envelope some CPUs run at(130W+) .
Somebody can correct me if I`m wrong, but the original revisions did not support quads for this exact reason and then they made it support 95W CPUs....

Ah the sweet smell of melting plastic heh. Either way, i can say i wouldnt be the first one attempting this. Can anyone out there with the new quadcore post a CPU-Z screen?
