Okay guys im at college right now eagerly wating to go home so i can open my up my cute beast. So my question when i first open what should i do ?
*My first laptop ever!
Recharge Battery??
Once the power is on boot windows what should i do ? get drivers? for vista ?
if so are desktop vista drivers same as laptop one? if not can you guys give me specific link.
Or i was thinking turn on power, pop in 32 bit xp pro and install that so i can game even smoother with 2 gb of ram.
So another question i have is should i do xp 32 bit or vista 32 bit??? to get the best performance out of the notebook for cod 4 , and gears of war. Also can i game with my ac adapter pluged in and game all night day long and not worry about over heating and leave my laptop on 24/7 and not worry about having it explode ?? Like my desktop is on 24/7 with reboot once a day.
if vista , how would i make it go from 64 bit to 32 bit? pop in cd and do clean install?
~ Thanks to anyone who replies and sorry to all who are confused by my post![]()

I am an x64 promoter, so I will recommend you install Windows Vista x64 (whatever version you may have). If you have bought Vista from a reseller (like Sager/PowerNotebooks/XoticPC) and asked them to install it for you, you will have, by default, the x64 variant + all the drivers you need.
If you don't have it installed you can do it yourself and install all the drivers from the Sager's support (downloads) area. They have the drivers. You need the x64 disk to install.
I'm not sure about the rest, someone else will give a hand shortly. -
I am an XP promoter, DO NOT GO WITH VISTA!!!
Thats all... -
I would go with XP 32-bit for now, or at least dual boot so you have it as an option for times when you need raw performance.
If you install Vista, you might as well just put 64-bit on. -
Sager has all the drivers available you'll need for a 64/32-bit vista installation or a windows xp install, so you can go either way ( ---> http://www.sagernotebook.com/information.php?information_id=7 ).
It's really up to you and is largely a matter of personal preference; some on these forums prefer Windows XP, others trend toward Vista. Windows XP tends to be much less of a resource hog, though the difference can be minimized by configuring Vista properly (see below). Vista offers a number of features that XP lacks including DX10 support and good support for 64-bit drivers; the usefulness of some of these features is debatable, but it's worth mentioning nonetheless.
If you do decide to go the Vista route, be sure to check out Black Viper's guides to optimizing Vista ( ---> http://www.blackviper.com/Articles/articles.htm#Windows_Vista ).
Vista's performance after a fresh install is pretty shoddy, but can be improved considerably by shutting off the unnecessary components and services. Just be careful not to shut off services you'll needthe guide above shows multiple configurations including a "safe" one, so stick to that if you're unsure.
Aside from all that, regarding "the first thing you should do"...ensure you're running the latest drivers and have the latest updates for your OS, perform the aforementioned optimizations (see link to Black Viper's site), and you should be good to go. If you do decide to perform a fresh install of windows, I'd again recommend following Black Viper's guides, which are pretty comprehensive (once more, see link above).
If you're concerned about your battery, chrisyano has a great guide to all things notebook battery related here ---> http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=91846#post1696318

a question so if pop in my cd at start (xp 32 bit) will it ask me to create a new partition ?? or will i have to overwrite vista 64 bit??? or use fdisk ???
-
The easiest way to install XP after Vista is to delete all partitions and create new ones.
-
what are some safe methods i can used to deleted the current partitions on my harddrive?
-
You can use this interactive livecd to nondestructively (without reformatting and losing all your data) repartition your hard drive : http://gparted.sourceforge.net/
-
I don't mean to bash 64 bit XP but I have both versions and I installed 32 bit after reading online benchmarks that showed an overall slower performance in programs etc with 64 bit XP over 32 bit. Please correct me if I'm wrong though as I have been thinking about reformatting and going with the 64 bit
Brand New 2090/What should i do ??
