Hi, I done a bad flash to my 5870 a couple of days ago, I am now getting 2 beeps, and have not able to pass post. I have been looking ino ways of blind flashing, but as yet nothing has worked.
I have removed both hard drives to try to get the machine to boot to dos from a usb floppy drive. The floppy has atiflash and the bios' update.bat files. This still does not force the machine to boot, there is no activity on the usb floppy. I think there is an issue with the order the system bios calls devices in the bios. It seems to look at the vbios first, and if vbios fails, the boot fails.
I noticed this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...-your-phoenix-bios-bios-recovery-methods.html. Although seems to be aimed at people who have flashed the wrong system bios, it suggests that, by using the Fn+b key, you can force a bypass of the bios to enable the machine to read from the usb or usb floppy drive and boot to dos. The method described in the thread uses an autoexec.bat file to automatically flash the system bios in dos, presumably the system bios files can be replaced with the vbios and the autoexec file amended to run the vbios file automatically. Anyone know if it will work?
Does anyone know the key sequence to force bios recovery for the Sager NP8760. Fn+B or Windows+B do not work for me.
Last resort is removing and reprogramming the bios chip.
One more question, if I remove the gpu, will the system use the onboard video, or has it been disabled?

I don't know if vBIOS is in the main BIOS. Those recovery mode is for main bios. Anyway you need to find out the proper type of BIOS (or efi) you have. Ask people with same laptop to go into BIOS and write down all BIOS info. It must be either AMI or Phoenix or Insyde. After this you should search for proper ways to recover bios all are different for type of BIOS.
Also you may download BIOS file from official support site. Using this file someone (maybe even me) will tell you the type of BIOS.
Also I will send you PM
