Hello all, welcome to my first post.
I called XOTICPC Friday and ordered my new laptop.
Seems to be in "Phase 1 (Order Confirmation)".
I'll call Monday to clarify what that means.
A few questions;
How many phases and what are they?
Have you recently ordered/received an NP9150?
How long did it take?
thanks!
-
Phase 1 seems to be their "verify order" stage, where they process the order. Then they'll give you your price and you send in your payment. Once it's received and processed you'll move into Phase 2 where Sager will begin putting together the laptop. There is a Phase 3 if you order any custom stuff (like skins or custom paint, not sure what else falls under this) where your laptop is sent over to Xotic to do the custom stuff. Phase 4 is shipping where it is on the way to your doorstep!
From placing the order to receiving the laptop, the process took three weeks exactly for me, and that was with me sending in my payment via snail mail. (Took almost a week for the check to reach them and be processed.) Note that I ordered the NP9170, not sure on build times for the NP9150. -

yibiah, thank you for your order! We're not in the office during the weekend so order placed on Friday will be processed Monday once we're back in the office so it will show Phase 1 til then. If we have any questions we'll be in touch.
Thanks PiMaster314 that explained the Phase's just right. -
I ordered mine on Thursday and since I didn't put my middle initial in I had to call to verify my info the same day. Still haven't heard back yet so hopefully the money will be taken out today and my laptop can get underway I'm getting anxious for it
.
EDIT: I ordered an NP9170 rather than the NP9150 but still ordered from XoticPC -
3 weeks? Somewhat understandable when involving snails.
I'm hoping ten business days max. -
I chose XoticPC after much reading and a few reseller phone calls.
Price and future support/expected customer service were the main factors.
As I am a man of little to no patience, be prepared.
You very well may be contacted on an almost daily basis until I'm satisfied. -
Still in phase 1 or have you moved on to phase 2? -

I kept asking around until I found the best deal and the best build time. You might want to do the same. -

Good luck getting it in 3 weeks. Customer service and customer satisfaction with XOTICPC is terrible. My email was left unanswered. When I called a rep said he'll pass my message onto my rep cause he wasn't avaliable at the time. Apparently the message was never passed on. I was told my product will be shipped on a certain day and it still hasn't after I did get in touch with my customer service rep. I also paid an extra 50 dollars for the expedited service for the Sager laptop. At first I asked if it can be expedited and they said they couldn't do it with the sager laptops. To add insult to injury when I asked them to cancelled my order so I can get it expedited from Sager instead they asked if they can contact them. They said they got the green light and needed a reply from me. For the next few days I tried constantly to called my rep and couldn't get through. Apparently a week later the production request was sent to sager and the laptop was produced.
So after all said and done, It's been a month already and I'm getting ready to leave for Afghanistan so I probably won't ever see that laptop. I guess thats a good way to blow 2100 dollars for something that you'll never see. Now I have 4 days left to see if I wille even get my order or end up with no laptop to bring overseas with me. Thank you very much XoticPC for the headaches you just given me. -

@TNIYM, I have included my post below and your order had custom modifications that require it shipping to us. Considering we did not hear back from you until 7/30 your order has moved along quickly. With all due respect we have not received a single voice mail from you to return as posted below in another thread. All emails were replied to we have received from your email address on your order. Everything was added on your order as confirmed to you on 7/30.
From the sounds of it your laptop is shipping and will arrive by your need by date. I hope you enjoy the new laptop.

3 weeks are a little too long for most customers. A reasonable built time shall be 5 working days (including assembly and fully test). And UPS Ground shall take another 5 working days from West Coast to East Coast.
-
I asked around and was offered rush service from 2 different vendors. I placed my order on a Wednesday morning, and it was shipped on Friday. I got the system the following Thursday (only because ground shipping took so long). Shipped on the third day, in my hands after a week. All I had to do was ask!!
As I mentioned above, you might want to start asking around. If you get a better offer or build time estimate, you can always cancel your current order and go with someone else.
Waiting many weeks for a laptop to ship out should not just be an accepted standard. -
I was told Sager's build time will be 3-10 business days.
I too was offered rush service at additional cost, but declined. -
To the OP, I do, however, wish you the best in your experience with them, but do not stand for some protracted poor CS on their part. You will not be the first for them, and certainly not the last.
XoticPC- they are in the market to make money, but to their detriment, because of continued poor CS, it will eventually hurt their bottom line when people that buy these types of machines start to speak out. XoticPC are out of touch, and I would never consider buying from them again. In this thread alone we see multiple hiccups on their part. Very sad! -
From your very own description you sound like the worst nightmare of any reseller - calling every day once or twice to bug about your order only to return it a few days later just because you were 'dissatisfied', and then have the nerve to argue about the restocking fee after you wasted their time and tried their patience like that? Not to mention that after they dropped the restocking fee after everything you've done (god knows why), you still complain about them? Bah, you sound like a spoiled rich princess.
XoticPC, like any other reseller for that matter, are indeed there to make money, and you just wasted theirs. This is a high-end customized laptop, not a 'try before you buy' clothing store. Grow up.
But yeah, you guys are completely correct, waiting for more than 3 weeks is completely unacceptable. I'm already waiting a week for MySN and they haven't even started processing my order. Needless to say, I am not pleased. -
I have to disagree here. You talk as if Re-sellers are doing us a favour by selling us these laptops and helping us part with our cash.
He is paying for a product AND a service. If he feels at all dissatisfied with it, that's entirely his purogative.
I really dont get this new wave of corporate-sympathizers who seem to want to make companies out as Saints and customers out as villains and where quality of product, service and satisfaction should come a distant second to company profits.
And btw, I had 2 calls with Xotic and they never heard from me again. I went with Mythlogic instead. If I'm going to pay $2700 for a laptop, I bloody well expect to feel satisfied with both the company and the product. And so should he. -
I'm anything but a 'corporate-sympathizer'. I also never dealt with XoticPC that much so I'm not rushing to their defense, either.
Just like you and Jim here, I pay a high dollar for my laptop and I demand a good service and a good product for it. That being said, this is a business, and doing business requires two sides, the buyer and the seller. Just like I wouldn't accept any nonsense from a reseller who doesn't know how to behave or treats customers like they're in his pocket so long as they gave him his money (and I just cancelled such a deal with such a reseller), I expect us, the consumers, to behave accordingly as well.
True, the resellers are not doing us any favors by selling us these laptops. But on the other hand, they're not our friends, nor our relatives. They're doing us a service and expect to be paid and be treated like human beings in the process, not just a bunch of piñatas that drop us our laptops whenever we feel like it or thrown back to their lap whenever we don't, like an unwanted gift. You will, too, learn to understand that when and if you'll provide a service for anyone and be treated that way.
Beyond this basic courtesy and manners towards another person, fellows like Jim here are actually 'contributing' to worsening the whole trust between suppliers and consumers in this business. A bit more of this kind of stuff, and the resellers won't be providing us any courtesy and treat us just like you think to treat them - talking wallets and nothing more. I've seen that happen too many times to count. -
Not too happy with Xotic PC at the moment either. Placed an order on 07/06/12 and still waiting for the darn laptop and I paid over $3,800.00 for it. Might have to cancel it and get it from Origin.

Kinghobo- its ironic how you can talk so eloquently about your experience and state that you also went through a similar experience with poor CS. Did you get heckled for stating that you also had one. Your talking out of both sides of your mouth. Your initial response to my post was ignorant. Your attempt to defame my response when I had a severely poor experience was unfounded. They are in a business, and continued business practices like this will not go unnoticed. Have you read the entire thread? I also noted I have never spoken ill of them in 5 months, but now that I see others sharing their experiences I feel compelled to state my similar experience. There are numerous people on this thread alone that have said their XotiPC experience have less than satisfactory. I simply shared mine so that the OP would know there are others that have had similar poor experiences. All the details were not illustrated, but that was the basis of it. I wished the OP the best, and hoped that mine was an isolated example, but clearly it has not been. Thank goodness to forums so that people can share, corroborate, and, in your case, defame others at the expense of a reseller/business when you have no vested interest, or so, as you claim. For what, to satisfy your ego? Please check yourself before you attempt to make broad assumptions of anothers character when it is nothing like the truth.
If any company, including XotiPC continues to have practices like this they will die and fail. They are simply a medium selling others products, and a small one at that. I too worked for a much larger company in a prior career, Toshiba, and would have never acted in this manner, nor would the company have let me. I have no ill will towards Sager, only Xotipc. In fact, it is highly likely I will come back to Sager, but never Xotipc.
You are correct on one point Kinghobo, they are not are brother nor sisters and thus owe us nothing, but if they want to be viable now and in the future they will need to mitigate/correct their actions. Then you have good business practices and positive referrals rather than the later.
Good luck OP. -
I would have simply shrugged and ignored this thread altogether, but I don't want you to charge at the guy that was on your side the whole time! -
Amirfoox- In a hurry to flame at anyone, hardly, only you when you challenge ones character. Your, "Amirfoox," carrying out abusive practices, and should be held accountable! Hopefully you can limit your responses to well thought out helpful dialogue in the future. There is s small lesson to be learned in the grand picture when struggling with cognitive dissonance. -

Aug 15 2012; I have reached Phase 2, (Sent for Custom Building / Testing / Burn In & Final QA)!!
From XoticPC "Standard production times are estimated at 3-10 business days currently; however, variables can cause production to be extended." -
Aug 22 2012; Business day six of phase 2.
"08/15/2012 Phase 2 (Sent for Custom Building / Testing / Burn In & Final QA)"
I hate waiting... -
For what it's worth, everybody should keep in mind that this is the busiest time of year for most resellers because it's Back-to-School season. Every electronics outlet and penny saver instructs consumers to buy a laptop during this time period, so our friendly neighborhood resellers might be quite busy right about now, given that they're not the multinational conglomerates with which we're used to dealing.
The pictures of some builder offices resemble garage industries, and I'm pretty sure Origin PC is located on the back of a turtle. -
Aug 22 2012; Phase 4 is here!!!!
"Your order with Xotic PC has shipped!"
Yay, me!!! -

I have ordered two machines from GenTech.
A MSI GE60 that was built and shipped 6 days after order. A Sager 9150 that was built and shipped 7 days after order.
I orginally ordered a Sager through Xotic but after 2 weeks in P1 I hit a creditcard issue and decided rather then resolve the issue to just order from someone else. -

Congrats yabiah! 6 business days not too shabby.
@ AlwaysSearching when did you order yours? I could see a 2 week wait when everyone was out of the 7970M cards late May early June. -
Received laptop this afternoon!
Ordered on Aug 10; 13 day total wait time. Not bad. -
Awesome that is nice and fast, how was it/is it?
