Hi. I've been looking for a laptop to buy for my university studies, and now I've set my eye on the Kobalt gs150 (which I think is based on the Clevo w150) as it doesn't weigh as much as the p150hm (and the power supply is less than half, so I guess it'll weigh much less as well).

What I'm not so sure about is the build quality. I've heard that it's plastic, but not much more than that. So I'd love to hear some comments about the build quality. And also, how much does the PSU weigh? Is it worth going for it instead of the P150 just because it's lighter (I don't really need better gaming performance, but it's always a plus)?

I don't think the GS150 is a P150HM. It has a NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M, which the Sager NP5165 has. So you can read up about the reviews in the owners lounges section. There are many reviews there.

I would do a search about Kobalt Computers first and go from there. I've read they have a backlog on orders and other issues right now. Don't know if they've fixed all of their issues or not. It's better to contact them and ask before you put your orders in.

    Best of luck.

He didn't say it was a P150HM. He was asking if he should go for the W150 or the P150HM.

My answer is, the P151HM1 should do you quite well. I dislike optimus and wouldn't really recommend it to someone, but the P151HM1 is a great deal to me. I would have had to pay twice as much for 1/2 that power a year and a half ago. If you want build quality, Clevos are generally the best quality you can find. Period. If you really wish to know though, there are numerous threads floating around where people talk about their new P151HM1/P150HMs.

Just for clarity the Gs150 is the W150HRM :)

The build quality is mostly plastic, however in our experience (we have a couple of company samples for reviews etc) they are quite robust.

They will withstand almost all everyday use without a problem. If you are near to our office would be happy to arrange for you to pop by (arranged in advance) to have a look at one?

You should check the Owner's Lounge for impressions.

If the G150 is in your budget, I think you consider it, but really it depends on what kind of gaming you do.

Thanks for all the answers! I noticed that the NP5165 is the same as the Gs150 about an hour after I made the post, so I've read through most pages in that thread now and I think I'll go for the Gs150 after all. And Pman, I live in Sweden, but thanks for the offer. :)

The P150HM is within my budget, but I'm not too sure about it's weight (I read that the power brick weighs almost 1kg?). I'd consider the P151HM if it was available here in Europe, however it isn't, and that makes it way more complicated if I'd have to use the warranty.

I also have a powerful desktop PC which I'll be gaming on 95% of the time, so I think the 555m will be enough for me.
