    Hi,

I have always spec'd out and built up my own high end desktop gaming rigs but now I have sold my desktop and moved to London, UK.

Due to the fact i'll most likely be moving around a lot for the next couple of years before going back home to New Zealand, it makes sense to buy a gaming laptop over a desktop.

This has lead me to companies like Kolbalt and PC Specialists (clevo resellers here in the UK). Although they let you customize what laptop parts you want, they still build it all for you. Although this is great, it must make it more expensive and doesn't really give you that satisfaction from building up your own rig that I love so much.

What I was wondering is if there is any way I could buy a barebones case and parts, then build it all myself? Also, if so, has anyone done this before and is it as easy as building up a desktop ie. all the parts just slot into place and all you need is a screw driver :p

you can buy all of the parts from rjtech.com, and have them ship you the parts, depending on what you want, you could probably save a little bit, but personally i looked for the lowest price possible, prebuilt or dyi and i found the lowest price was through malibal. by the im moving from a desktop to a laptop comment im guessing you want at least an 8130 or better, correct? anyways take a look at the clevo 3.0 guide as well.

    Hmmm thanks aduy.

Have had a look but your right, it will cost more to build up myself.

I'll just use PC Specialists instead and be done with it.

    Cheers for that.
