Well my 5796 finally made it to my hands. My very first impression......
This thing is solid as a rock, no creaks, no flexing, no abnormalaties, no dead/stuck pixels, no missed keypresses, no flaky sound, and one very happy owner!
I think I'm gonna be very happy with my decision to go with a sager and thanks xoticpc for putting up with my BS. And please help me should this beast malfunction. Hallelujah, Good night

Well, not quite like a tank, see my thread about spilling a small amount of juice by the escape key. Fried my keyboard. So I payed a visit to Sager today, replaced my keyboard and they helped out, it is really pretty easy to do it yourself. But anyways, there are exposed circuit boards right under the center of the keyboard, so be super careful with that drink, a couple of inches and I could be talking about a lot more than a $50 keyboard. Sager are great people and I am glad I live pretty close. They even took it into the shop, cleaned the messed up area and gave it a quick check, no extra charge besides the keyboard.

Thumbs up to Sager for great service.

But it is not a tank, don't treat it as one ;)

Well the keyboard issue you had was more internal parts related and you can destroy a tank from the inside alot more easily :D

Not bashing the Sager np5796 or the Lenova T-series--I've got a t-series (t61p) and I've played a little with the np5793 (precursor to np5796), but if you want a tank of notebook, get yourself a toughbook

This beast is not a tank, but you can drive a tank over it!

OK, maybe not, but I was working on a server once and this guy walks in and tosses his notebook across the room, it bounces off the wall and slams down on the table. I almost had a stroke, then he turned it on and worked.

    That's tough!

Toughbook is more like a railroad cannon, strong but slow.

Ok maybe not like a tank since i'm being such a wimp about it getting bumped right now(anything doesnt stay new long)
Every laptop ive had thus far in my life has creaked and flexed when I bought it. even my t40 ibm. So for this thing to not creak is in my mind very impressive.
    So kids heres your lesson....
Never pay full price for creaky laptop

I'm curious, how do you find the screen casing as far as quality/toughness? Specifically, the front and side rim of it.

There's a difference between being confident in a manufacturer's build quality - and just being plain stupid.

Your friend threw his notebook right over that line.

    Why wouldn`t you, I bet I would, and I`m 6.3 and 210.

To the OP, the 579x is definitely not a tank, but it`s a solid laptop and it`s sleek too.

Enjoy and game on it hapily :D
