Anybody know how much of a PITA it would be to repair/replace a busted ethernet port?

It's not physically damaged as far as I can tell, but one day while connected to the Internet, it suddenly dropped connection for no apparent reason, saying it wasn't plugged in.
The cable was plugged in, and tested OK on my budget laptop.

Don't really want to send this back for RMA (probable 2 week turnaround with shipping times) for what is a fairly minor problem...I'm working around it using wireless.

Is it set up that I can just replace a card, or is it hardwired into the motherboard etc?

For that you typically will need to send the whole computer in to get fixed. The only other work around besides the wireless you have not would be to get a usb adapter.
