    Hi,

Does anyone knows where to buy clevo barebones in Switzerland, especially in the Geneva area.

I only know littleblit.ch but the resellers don't seem to have the laptop available for selling.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
I am coming from Basel and have a Clevo M860TU.
There are many shops outside of Switzerland you can order from. The following ones are in German:
    Schenker Notebook
    Deviltech
Notebookguru.de (where I have mine from)
There are many other shops, some also probably in France.

Advice: when you import a laptop, be sure to get rid off the German or French VAT. For instance: German VAT is 19% which is deductable. Swiss Customs only charge you 7,8% VAT which makes a discount of 11,2%.

    Got a Clevo M860TU, T9600@2,8, 3GB DDR3 RAM, 9800M GTS, Wifi, Bluetooth, WD Scorpio 320gb 5400 for CHF 2200 altogether.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Notebookguru.de has some nice prices, which model would anyone recommend?

m570tu or the m860tu? (with similar specs)

Another question, is there various versions of the same model? For example, I now see that the m860tu can support quadcore, would this mean that a m860tu from 8 months ago, also have this support or is this only true for a newer m860tu?

    TIA

    Hi,
I can't tell you which of those two models are suitable for you. The difference is in size and design. I also believe that the M570tu can even be configured with a 9800m gtx.
Both barebones have poor specs concerning battery life. The M860TU is pure understatement you can carry with you (heavy though). What it lacks is the possibility to change graphics from internal chipset to 9800m gts and vice versa (The new macbook pro has installed such a battery saving feature).

I dunno about the quadcore, but I can tell you that normally the graphic card is the bottleneck, not the CPU...
    Regards
    Manuel
