Try reading Kilim's review of his 5760 http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3017&review=Sager+5760 . I purchased one as well, have yet to do a review of mine due to the fact, I got mine yesterday and havnt had alot of time to play with it. My specs are are simular to his, except i have the Bluetooth card, and TV tuner and i have XP MCE. With that in mind, my results should be simular to Kilims benchmarks n such. His review is really good. If you decide to get one you will have to decide if you want one NOW, or wait till the merom's come out. After asking the same question on these forums, I decided to buy it now, and upgrade later. Cost/performance is what i went by. Good luck to you and your purchase.
FYI, i purchased my 5760 threw Discountlaptops.com and havnt had ANY problems with their service.

I have the 5760. This is only the third laptop I have owned. It is the best built laptop I have ever used, and it is the most powweful as well. I don't think I would be happier with any other laptop myself.

Note... This is a desktop replacement. In my opinion it is not a good choice for someone on the go alot -- it is very heavy and bulky.

Heavy? Yes. Bulky? Not really IMO. I even find it quite slim for a DTR this powerful. But sure it's not a light thing. But I travel with it from home to work every day. I use my car though. Taking the bus with it would maybe be another story...

    Fantastic machine indeed.

Should I be worried about weight and bulky-ness? I would like to take it places sometimes...
Is it tooo heavy to carry, or....what?

It would be best to take a trip to a local computer store and see some 17" notebooks in person.

    +1 :).

Usually not your thin and light model ;).

But it's all related on what you wanna do. Email, internet, some word? Probably not your machine. Gaming, power, true DTR? 5760 fits the bill :).

The machine alone is weighted at 8.5lbs I think. Add a bag, some accessories (I always get 2 power supplies so I leave 1 at home and 1 at work), some paperwork and you end up carrying 15lbs. It's not as bad as I expected, but worst case if you travel a lot, get a backpack type case.

I've been taking my 9750 with me all over the place. I'm using it now at work. It's much heavier than 5760 and at 12.5 pounds + battery, I don't think it's THAT heavy. I wouldn't want ot use it on a plane or anything.. cause it's so big. But it's not that heavy if you're an average sized guy.

Sure it's be easier and nicer if it were 6 pounds, but another 6 pounds isn't that much.

Something you might want to try if you can't find any 17" laptops to look out, pull out your kindergarten skills and cut out a template of the shape to see how big it will look on your desk/lap/bag/etc

and if you randomly have a 10lbs bench weight laying around or something, you can give it a lift, put it on your lap or your packback to get an idea of the weight. It'll be a little off in how it feels cause of the shape, but it'll at least give you an idea.

yea I looked a my 17 Dell monitor on my desk...Its Ok size for a laptop a guess. I also lifted a 10lb bench weight with one hand and with two...Thats OK to....I guess. My younger [half] bro has a laptop that is about 8lbs, and its not that bad...
