Buy from Sager Direct or Reseller?

I am about ready to pull the trigger on a Sager laptop. The price directly from Sager is basically the same as from any of the highly regarded resellers mentioned in this forum.

I don't know if this is true for all resellers, but one I contacted told me that if I needed warranty service, I had to send the laptop directly to Sager any way.

Is there any reason I should buy from a reseller rather than directly from Sager?

I just posted on this same topic a couple days ago, but I had already ordered my machine from sager. I posted a thread about if I should cancel that order and re-buy from a reseller or stay with sager. Most people have reported not so pleasant experiences when dealing with sager's customer support. I personally don't see myself using customer support much if at all, but I still canceled, and am going with a reseller. Prices are indeed similar, but most offer cash discounts and some give free ups ground shipping. I figure if I am spending a large lump of cash on a machine, I might as well have some piece of mind.

You are correct. All repairs do go through Sager in North America even Clevo's. So why go with a reseller?

It saves you a little money. It gets you the personal support if you do have an issue.

Sorry for this repeat thread. I didn't see Sasquatch's thread when I first looked through the forum, duh. Thanks for posting the update of what you ended up doing Sas.

After reading through your thread, I'm still up in the air about it. No matter who I buy from, I'm paying by credit card for the extra protection.

Many resellers also offer greater customization options than Sager does.

Also, don't forget that buying directly from Sager puts you in the same position as a reseller in terms of customer hierarchy. Unless you are planning on buying in bulk, there is no question that a reseller holds greater clout, and thus receives better support from Sager than you will, simply because they hold a greater chunk of demand.
