    Between tax refunds, a pay raise and overall annoyance with my old laptop I was considering going full-tilt on Mythlogic build.

    I know people talk a lot about Haswell, but the benefits there seemed limited for a gaming laptop that was going to require a small nuclear reactor to power anyway.

    Are there any other reasons why waiting a couple months might be useful?

    Any current news I'm missing?

    Thanks...

    The only new stuff coming out will be the new CPU and GPU's coming out in June/July time frame. If you're considering a SLI setup I'd say just go for what is available now as it's not likely a comparable system will be available in the new lineup right at the start.

    Ugh. That timing feels bad, but I suppose products based on those chips wouldnt be expected until this fall-ish..

    That is entirely possible as well. We didn't see these current 9370 offerings until last October if I remember correctly and the 9570 was only just recently added.

    One perk to waiting to pull the trigger is that the price on units with IB chips will see a small price drop once Haswell units are up for sale. If you're not terribly concerned about the performance gains or gaps between IB and Haswell, and you're willing to wait to see if the chip is in fact released in the coming months, then you could stand to save a few bucks once production units are up for sale.

    +1 Derek and Prostar both valid points;

    honestly. this is the nature of the game, it's a perpetual "to wait or not to wait". especially at the rate technology is evolving, you'll always only be on top for 4-6 months until u get toppled, the 370 sli might be edged out slightly come july/aug but it'll only be by a few % and by then the count-down begins for the next gen. the 370 sli/cfx config will honestly blaze through just about every game for the next 3 yrs.

    You could save a few bucks by waiting, but for me, i'd rather spend that time enjoying my machine.

    Usually the best advice is to buy when you feel you need to, it's still going to be a fair wait on the new units however and while some of the features will be nice, none of it looks to be earth shattering.
