Ive pretty much settled on the d900f. But Id hate to buy it and have a new model come out in june or something. Anyone know if a new model is on the horizon?

I think the newer procs are on the way (32 nm). More power for (6 cores vs 4 cores) the same heat
-
There is a new extreme processor someing out in Q3 of this year, but unless you are looking to buy the extreme CPUS then theres nothing that I know of for you to look forward to.
Just remember that when ever you buy the notebook something bigger and better will some out some were along the line.
Know IMO is the right time to buy as the new GPU's have just been released, SSD's have become more avaliable and the new i7 proccessors have been released, everything is pretty much bleeding edge. -
Buy now or buy later , - will regret equally

Bite the bullet, buy and enjoy. There will always be better. If you need it now, then buy it, why wait.
That is what I did a few months ago for my D900F. -
Yeah i know there will always be something better around the corner. Just wanted to know if waiting 3 more months would make any difference. Thanks for the info

wait .... there is something coming
If you can afford to wait.... either way you will be happy so :/ -
What's with the mystery Moo?
C'mon spill the beans, exactly how long to you expect us to wait -
Moo is it possible to buy this D900F and then upgrade to this something new or is it going to be a whole new bag ?
-
I dont know 100% just wait
-
I can wait.
-
I guess I am the one...
Are you referring to the D9xx with fermi that was demonstrated in CeBIT behind closed doors or the other mythical creature the x7200?
-
-
So, you don't want to wait for it or you don't believe it's coming any time soon/at all?
-
-
The new platform will only be available after the next CeBit (Q1, 2011). Until then - X58 stays put. There's no point for Clevo to modify something so polished for less than a year of lifespan. However, they might offer a new GPU for the same MXM + the 980X support to make it worthwhile till Sandy Bridge. I seriously doubt though that we'll see mobile Fermi before SB.
Imho . -
Wasn't the talk about Clevo using the X58 with a desktop Fermi in sort of D9xx sort of portable package?
-
umm, desktop fermi ~300W, you really think thats likely? And think of the size...!
-
Who cares...the bigger, the better. Won't be this year anyway.
-
The battery...kaboom!
Our speculations will remain as such for now.
What was shown at the CeBit could have been a prototype of the future series of notebooks with desktop GPUs. It might never even get released (at least not as X58+Fermi). The fact that they successfully made such a system gives them a huge potential for the next platform. We can only guess, but I think, on the next iteration we'll see a beast with 6+cores desktop CPU + some mutant graphics from desktop Fermi/6870 and1hr battery
-
Or ... Clevo will ditch the battery alltogether
-
300W + 100W = 400W..
I know of 400W PSU's....throw in a little dihydrogen monoxide
Still testing but still could happen... 2 camps working on it -
300W GPU + 130W CPU + 50W mainboard/everything else = 480W
-
M17X has a very slim PSU brick of 240W, even if it's twice the size - I'm game, - one less book to carry in the backpack
So it's not unrealistic.
The battery on the other side is a problematic part, but you can always throttle everything down to zero when unplugged.
So it's doable IMHO.
The question is how far your(Clevo/AW) ambition goes.
And of course - when?!!!
Buy the D900F or wait??
