I have finally decided to go with the 5793 from xoticpc. After researching the past few months this is the best deal I could find. But...will this model support the new 9xxxM video cards like the newer model thats slated to come out next month will? I don't want my laptop to become out of date so soon.
A little on what my expectations are-I'm used to playing games on consoles with a big HDTV, so I like the best. This will be my first laptop. I need this to last a few years. I just want to make sure that it will be able to play all future games for the next few years. I don't want it to be outdated technology next summer.
Gamewise, I play mostly rpg's with a little bit of shooters, like cod4 and crysis. I need this to run oblivion on absolute maximum settings, and then some, since I will be running texture pack mods. Since I'm getting rid of my 360, this will have to play Mass Effect at top settings, and Mass Effect 2.
Basically I just want it to last awhile. Heres what I built:
Sager NP5793

- 3 Year Labor* 1 Year Parts Warranty Lifetime 24/7 DOMESTIC Toll Free Tech Support

I do have a couple questions. For what I'm doing, should I get the:
-1GB Intel® Robson Turbo Memory?
-Vista Ultimate 64 bit instead of Home Premium 64 bit?
Remember I need this futureproof, so if waiting for the newer model to come out in june would be A LOT better, then I don't mind, as long as it doesn't carry and extra 1000 dollar price tag.
Thanks

Intel Robson turbo mem is crap!
btw montevina platform will have Intel Robson 2 which is an improvement over Intel turbo mem!
also the Centrino 2 class processor and chipset, along with DDR3 Ram support, Wimax etc. Definitely future proof!!
M570RU seems to be plagued by an issue known as GJOD(Green Jack Of Death! lol!) the headphone jacks on the sager notebooks are destined and guaranteed to die!
mine died within a week of receiving it!!
Hopefully M570TU should not suffer from the same prob!!
Also u might wanna go for 320GB 5400rpm! i've heard it has the same performance as the 200gig 7200rpm drive nd runs a lot cooler!!! (citation needed)
my 200gig reaches 58C under full load!!! -
- it's very likely to support 9800m, but I hope you understand that 9800m is no more than 10% faster than 8800m
- it will last at least 3 years for newest game with med settings.
- running oblivion would be a piece of cake for 8800m
- 5794 is just around the corner now, i suggest you wait for it.
- Turbo Memory is waste of $
- if you need the extra security features, get ultimate; otherwise, they are absolutely the same
- montevina aka certirno 2, carry so much goodies, you really should wait for it.
-
-
There may be exceptions! but sooner or later GJOD's gonna happen to every Sager notebook!!
-
And I think the best option is to get an external cheap sound card... provides much higher volume and ends the audio jack problem, plus not too expensive and better sound ofcourse!
-
Thanks for the replies!
When are the new models slated to be available? I would like to get it on xoticpc as they have the best prices I've found. Any approximate price range?
-
it should be start shipping out in July with similar price range.
-
Yea the prob is i live in India!!
Yea btw i'm in initial 30 days of purchase!! lol! its just been a week!!!
i spent abt $2683 on this notebook only to find it messed up within a week!!
I'll try to fix the jack! if it doesn't correct the problem! this thing is going back to Sager!!
I can send it back no prob! but can anyone tell me abt the charges involved??
--------------
btw mysticstryk u should go for M570TU nd do inquire about the headphone jack before buying!! -
Hopefully early early July, because I want to take this with me to college that starts in August.
And I'm very impatient when I get my mind set on something -
-
-
acutally with the shipping cost sohail can get a professional sound card.
-
-
I have 3 sound cards for my notebook.
Two pro-audio cards:
- M-Audio Transit (USB)
- M-Audio Firewire 1814 (Firewire)
One gaming card:
- Sound Blaster Audigy ZS 2 (PCMCIA)
I only use the on-board when I am not gaming and do not care about too much about sound. Web browsing, anime/movie watching, etc...
But man do the expansion/external sound cards make such a difference when you are serious about sound quality in gaming, mixing, THX movie watching, etc.
I thought most notebook gamers would choose to get an expansion/external soundcard anyways for an optimal experience when gaming or connecting the system to a surround system or headphones. -
i have Audigy ZS 2, but the problem is it won't fit in my 5793
-
Yea! i can get an ext sound card but, i dont want anything sicking out of the laptop!!
c'mon! i just bought it! it shouldn't have given me probs in the first place, and as its still in the 30 day period i think i should RMA it!! if it had been after a month or 2 i would've bought a sound card!!
but since sager nd clevo ppl did a mistake!! i think they should pay for it!! (due to whole mobo swapping nd stuff)!!!
I didn't buy such an expensive machine just to see it die out on me within a week!!!
This is just unacceptable!!I'll RMA it nd buy a express card Creative X-Fi for future use!!!
seriously these guys need to sell quality stuff!! -
but here is the problem tho, neither sager and xotic pc pay for international shipping. so you will need to pay for both ways which is like over $300? no matter you returning it or send it in for fix. for the best of your money, here's what i think, buy a professional sound card, wait till you computer developed another problem, send it in and fix them all at the same time. you could save yourself few hundreds bucks + getting an extra sound card.
-
Don`t let a minor issue like this turn down an awesome laptop.
To the OP, wait for the TU.. it will have better support overal for future hardware+e-Sata+HDMI ... -
Then you can get a Expresscard X-Fi. -
-
I'm guessing I have to sell mine too. So that's the running price these days, cool.
Think I should get a expresscard for the M860TU or is it just this particular sager that is plagued by the audio problems? -
Seing as the M860TU has similar placed headphones,it might.
But I`m a messenger of pessimissm.
I would get the Express Sound Card either way, once you go fatal1ty, you`ll never go back -
Fine. Will include in purchase. Either way, the Audigy 2 ZS served me very well.

Hello
Perhaps if I could return to the original topic:
While I am new to this forum I have been reading it for about 6 months now. I was going to purchase the M570RU last winter (I was waiting for the 8800 GTX). I decided it was a bad time to buy (school etc.).
Long story short. I have had my finger on the trigger waiting to buy this laptop and I keep on delaying!!! Now I hear Intel is delaying the Montevina platform and centrino 2... til August! Will Sager or more importantly XoticPc have the M570TU by then???
And also two questions...
1) since everyone is talking about sound cards: would a decent sound card be superior to the audio in HDMI? (another potential reason to wait for the TU...)
2) While I'm at it... Does anyone have any information about the WUXGA screen (manufacturer, response time, contrast etc... Google has failed me)
I sympathize with you mysticstryk... to add insult to injury my old college issued laptop bluescreened... I am laptopless... lol
I just wanna play Crysis guys... help me out!!! -
1.) yes
2.) APP9C69
wait for 2 more weeks and see what happen to m860tu -
There are several WUXGA screns, one mentioned by Nirvana, I have the LPB0 something. And there are others also, but they`re pretty similar in brightness and viewing angles.
-
Wots the update on montevina??
-
-
-
because PCMW promised their customers that they will ship out m860tu at the end of june.

I thought it was because Intels NDA with resellers expires in two weeks, allowing them to disclose the benchmarks of early test models in their possession.

I'm in the same situation but I actually decided to buy the laptop when ik have the money/when I can basically. My theory behind it is HDMI really doesnt matter because since Im going to have an x-fi card i might as well get a AUX to AUX cord and dvi to dmi to hook it up to the tv. Yeah I am going to College in august and have externals to use for CAD, 3dsmax, maya etc etc but i can just get a express card with esata. Im not going to lug around my x-fi card sticking out of the laptop so I might as well have a "docking station". The only downfall is the 4gb-8gb dual-quad. I cant really argue but what I think is that, the 4gb is fine now and the laptop is still badass, its not like its going to decrease the usage of the laptop down a few years.
Buy the M570RU or wait for the M570TU?
