Hello. I had purchased a D900F from the marketplace here. It should be here next week. I have not even seen the laptop but I already feel this buyer's remorse? The specs are fairly good. 960, GTX 480M, 1.5TB and so and so. The price was also good. I think for a similar configuration new laptop here, I would have paid 60 - 70% more. I always feel this buyers remorse. Convince me this was a good buy and a gaming beast?![]()
I also wanted to change the WUXGA screen to something smaller in the future like WSXGA matte ( 1680x1050 ) Where can I shop for such a screen for D900F? Would any 17.1 screen fit or are there any special connectors or requirements that I should look for?

How much was it?

$1750. The only other laptop with a desktop processor is X7200 and they are a lot more expensive and I also do not like the look of it. I really want to change the screen very much. Any info regarding where I could shop for D900F screens?

Personally, I wouldn't buy anything (especially dual GPU model desktop CPU models) without warranty. not to mention paying $1750Honestly, Sager / Clevo's build quality is mediocre at best.
Most one year old laptops were sold at 50% of its retail price due to expired warranty and new technology. The only exceptions I can think of are Sony and Apple.
Just to give you an idea, I sold my 1.5 years old $4k Alienware m17x r1 for $1300 (include $100 Targus rolling case, $40 Targus carry case, $60 Alu Cooler) and I am kind pleased with the price.
On the other hand, my 0.5 years old Sony x135 netbook (Atom Z550 | 2GB) was sold for $1450... 97% of its retail vaule.. but I did upgrade the SSD to 256gb -
Um, yeah, $1750 was way too much to pay for that. For that much, you get a 2720QM and 6970M.

I don't wanna be that guy who's all 'come on guys, it's not that bad', but it's actually not that bad. The 960 sits between the 2820qm and th 2920xm, so it's certainly top-tier even by sandy bridge standards. The 480m, althouhg not the best, is certainly very capable, and you can't go wrong with all that storage.
That said, I'm very sorry, but there's no denying the fact that you overpaid by a fair amount, especially if you're not happy with the screen. You will be satisfied with your machine, but being older tech and second hand, the honest answer is it's not worth the price you paid. -
$1750 get the NP8170 / P170HM with HD 6970 GPU and i7-2720QM. The new i7 mobile chips are on par with the high end previous gen desktop i7's.
HD 6970 will beat out the 480m by quite a bit, not to mention you get the one year full warranty on the new machine and can always add in a screen later. Default screen is fine, just not spectacular, and 1080p. -

You left out a major factor in your location, yes? Don't blame us for not knowing.
Taking that into account, I guess you did pretty well. The CPU speaks for itself, and there's still only 3 mobile GPUs ranked above the GTX 480M. -
Yeah, considering that, it's a decent deal. Details, details.
-
capable and a gaming beast yes. now that you let on the details you did very well. you can pat yourself on the back now.

I have had about 6 laptops in my life, this is by far the best built, fastest and funnest (real word?) I have ever had. Hands down! I would buy from XoticPC again.
-
My opinion is exactly the opposite - apart from the awful keyboard, my x7200 is the best laptop I ever owned (and I owned two Sony laptops as well, not to mention an Alienware which is by great margin the worst built laptop I ever had). -
Sometimes people have one bad experience in the past, and they try to apply their own anecdotal situation to every product a company has created.

Your worst potential problem is some inverter buzzing, not really something you can do anything about or forsee at all.
Buyer's Remorse? Convince me? Screen Modification?
