I'm thinking of getting 2 Gigs of RAM in my Sager (instead of 1 Gig).
Right now I have two sticks of 512 MB.

I know nothing of RAM. So my question is: where would be the best place to buy some for my Sager? What are the differences?
I live in Canada by the way.

You can purchase RAM from just about any online store. I wold recommend brands such as Kingston or Corsair and you will be fine :) This would provide you the best price.

As Justin said, buy online. www.ncix.com has RAM - I heard good things about that store. Make sure you check the RAM DEALS thread.

Going to 2GB will yield a nice performance boost, especially if you play games.

I like newegg.com and all, but there have been several times where a defective product was sent and I end up having to RMA and pay the return shipping costs. Good thing, though, is that if it's an exchange, newegg will not charge you a second shipping fee. But it still sucks having to pay a return shipping fee when it's not the buyer's fault. Then again, newegg also claim that it's not their fault either.

it isnt like they send it to you defective purposely...any electronic device has a chance to be DOA...however slim it might be, it does happen. i also dont think that newegg tests every component they sell either.

however, with newegg i have returned ram way past their 30 day return period. (around 45-50 days)

I like Newegg. They've never question anything that I've RMA'ed. And of course one cannot expect newegg to test every product, after all they're just the retailer. But I wish that retailers such as Newegg could make the manufacturers pay for these return shipping costs since they're the ones releasing defective products in the first place.

It kinda sucks when you go online to purchase something instead of going to the local stores because you like the price/savings, and not having to pay sales tax on top of it is just icing on the cake. Then your enthusiasm is crushed when you get a defective product and have to pay the return shipping charge. So you end up not saving a penny but having to go through the hassle of getting an RMA approval, repacking the darn thing, sending back, and wait for a refund or another 3-7 days for a replacement.

I thought Newegg didn't ship to Canada?

    Thanks for all the replies.

Sorry for bringing back my old topic, but I figured this was a good place to post once again.
So there's no difference between notebook and desktop RAM is there?

    How does this one look?
I'm going to buy it today (to get the mail in rebate) if someone tells me that'll work fine on my Sager 5750.

Yes there is, thib. The ram in the Link is too big. You need SO-DIMM DDR2 5300 667 MHZ 200pin ram. Just get whatever's cheaper.
