Are Sager's available to buy without a hard drive and OS? The reason I ask is that I have a Samsung 830 SSD and my own copy of windows.

That depends on the reseller, You can always send your reseller of choice a mail and ask them'

Not a Sager, I don't think (I believe they all come with at least a hard drive, but you can get them without OS's). You can buy from a different builder like Malibal or Mythlogic though and it can come without either.

EDIT: According to Control13 it sounds like you just need to contact a reseller to get the hard drive removed. So that would be yes. :p

I bought my NP9150 through Xotic PC. I had HutSady remove the HDD since I had gotten an M4 128 SSD when I placed my order.

Did they discount the laptop since it was coming without a hard drive?

Yes they did... more than I thought actually lol. Lets just say it was over 50 bucks. They have amazing people working the computers and phones (representatives).

The thing that makes it even better is that when I went to purchase my SSD at Amazon... they forgot to charge me for the SSD lol and I ended up getting it for free... Amazon hasn't found out yet.

I got extremely lucky... I don't know how it slipped through Amazon.

Very nice. You tempted me to look at revising my order & going with a DIY SSD, but I can't spend the extra cash right now to get a large enough SSD. Guess I'll stick with my plan to do a HD upgrade a year or so down the road, either with an mSATA OS SSD, or swapping out the main HD for a large SSD.

Gotta love the options they give, though. :)

Haha yeah... I was in your exact position GPU wise. When I was in the process of ordering mine, people started receiving their NP9150s and NP9170s with the 7970m and I was so tempted, but I didn't have enough money left over from my Pell Grant (college financial aid), so I decided to stick with the 670m and upgrade later in the summer/fall.

But yeah, just take your time planning your Sager and doing the math.

Ask as many questions as you want... resellers are here to help. :)

Yeah, my order is in, and Xotic has been quite good so far. But I'm at the back of the line, so I'm sure I could still change something if I wanted.

Yeah, you definitely could. I bugged Hutsady so many times, I'm surprised he didn't set my email on ignore at XoticPC headquarters haha.

Yeah I think Xotic has more flexibility than some Sager resellers since they are a reseller for other brands. With those that are only Sager, they are limited and would not be able to offer such.

Most Sager resellers can remove the hard drive. PM one and we'll be happy to fill you in.

Would removing the hard drive have a discount on the overall price?
