Well I am satisfied with the audio performance of my realtek on my Sager 5793, but I will be heading out to another country where buying components won't be possible and I'm worried that my audiojack will just break (as been known to happen in the past) and then I won't be able to use my headset.
Do you think its worth getting a Creative x-fi expresscard in my situation as a backup to the possible breaking of my audio jack?
Thanks.

seems like an over-reaction to me... on my notebook, i can reconfigure the mic-in jack to be a normal audio-out jack as well... maybe you can do the same on your notebook? check the realtek driver.

I'd be careful with the x-fi cards, they're software based, so they're going to feed off your cpu. I've actually got myself the Audigy 2 ZS, that was laughingly easy to find. What I can't find is a pc card expresscard adapter to actually use on my laptop.

Ya exactly, I was about to say uhhh you can't use the Audigy 2 ZS.. so getting it is pointless.
Unless you buy this: http://sewelldirect.com/Express-Card-to-PCMCIA-Adapter.asp
Buying a Sound expresscard in case my M570TU audio jack breaks?
