    Hey guys,

Anyone here has experience on buying from a Clevo representative from another European country to Germany? I'm living in Germany for a short time and I'm not familiar with the importing procedures here, and how does it work to buy something from another EU country. Do I have to pay import taxes? What about warranty, RMA, etc?

I'm asking because I'm surprised to see the considerable price gap for the same basic model, with a few differences on warranty:

    UK (pcspecialist): 2161 EUR
    PT (obsidian): 2267 EUR
    PL (hyperbook): 2285 EUR
DE (kiebel): 2373 EUR (but they don't have English keyboards in the options)
    DE (mifcom): 2443 EUR
    DE (mysn): 2688 EUR

So, from the first one to the last, there is a gap of 527 EUR, which is quite a lot of money!!!

What do the Clevo "aficionados" living Germany do?

u can also try CEG, theyre based in Germany: http://www.ceg-hardcorecustom.com/

    also, One: http://www.one.de/shop/index.php

    theyre both priced pretty competitively.

as for imports: inside the EU ure not paying any taxes, just shipping. from outside the EU ull have to pay 19% import tax at customs...

i myself got my machine from mysn/schenker. foremost reason being their 4yr extended warranty :) unfortunately, they dont offer that anymore, but they still allow u to extend it to 3 years.

Thanks, but I've forgotten to mention those:

    DE (CEG) 2475 EUR
    DE (Guru) 2614 EUR
    DE (Nexoc) 2641 EUR

So, nothing close to PC Specialist or Obsidian.

I have purchased from mysn/XMG/Schenker (they are the same company just different branding). In my opinion, they are the most trustworthy and handle RMA the fastest. They pay for DHL express shipping so the laptop reaches them in 3-4 days no matter where you are in europe!!

Of course, you pay a premium for this level of reliability, but when you're shelling out over 2K on a laptop, I chose to have my head at ease when i go to sleep.

I can't really comment on the other resellers but I can tell you my experience with this one :p

Found a good price here, but no options to select keyboard language, the website is horrible (direct from the 2000s) which doesn't give a good impression.

    DE (One.de) 2285 EUR

I can imagine! But 527 EUR can pay a lot of DHL services!

I have bought my x7200 from One and I can tell you, not only the website gives you a bad impression. The low price is the only good thing about the company. If you never run into issues, it's fine, but E-Mail communication when my display died and I had to RMA was EXTREMELY painful and UNPROFESSIONAL. They were so incompetent I actually had to threaten them to consult with a lawyer for the further procedure as they had not sent my notebook back after 6 weeks of RMA and only replied my numerous emails every 2 weeks, and even then the emails contained zero helpful content. As the repair was done not by themselves but at GoldenStar (same as CEG btw, they also outsource RMA to GoldenStar) they were reluctant to give me status updates.

Never again. CEG seems to be more helpful and professional in their customer service, but they as mentioned also have notebooks repaired by GoldenStar.

I can only echo that buying from XMG seems worth the cost as they have proven to be very relieable (after the display fiasco I sent my notebook to them for repair and paid for it).

Thanks @sirana. Still, I'm curious about buying from abroad. The prices are tempting.

As in the USA? If so, you would pay import tax bringing it into europe.

No, from Europe (UK, Portugal, Poland, for example), from the shops I cited in the first post.

What's do you consider fully specced? Just curious e. g. which SSD you would choose.

ram and ssd i would get aftermarket :) with 32gigs ddr4-3000 and a 1tb sm961 it would total 3001€ to be exact. thats with the highest warranty included, no os, 6700k and 1080. only just upgrading to the 1080 already brings u to like 2800-2900 at ceg.... o_O

@jaybee83 to be fair at CEG I get 2,548€ if 1080, 6700k and 32gb 2400mhz ram is selected, w/o drives. I'm debating whether I should get a large "normal" m.2 SSD or a NVME SSD which is like twice the price per gigabyte. The SM961 seems neat though!

Just some info. pcspecialist.co.uk are also known as Fortune Technology (I've bought for clients and myself thought fortune technology, never had any issues). PC Specialist is their website for non-business users. Reputable company been around for a while. Shipping from EU to EU country means the quoted price should be the price you pay.

As an aside, I'm having an internal battle between buying the GT73VR with a 1070 or a Clevo P775DM3-G with a 1080 from pcspecialist both cost around £2,000......grrr
