Just opened a thread for anyone that has any info about Clevo/Sager on CES 2012. I am digging into it, nothing found yet.

Samsung's attempt at gaming laptop for $1,799
p/s: such an Alienware 2.0 ... -
Intel's CES 2012 Keynote can be viewed here: Intel @ CES LIVE - live streaming video powered by Livestream
I'm hoping for some Ivy Bridge-E details, especially confirmation of X79 compatibility. -
ivy-e support x79 comfirmed, from offical ppt
ivy-ep(10c/20t) might not, some say only support server chip
ivy-ex(16c/24t) is lga 1567 super ws so no way.............
-
Are Origin Clevo laptops? If so then this might be interesting. If not just ignore.
-
YES thats the model i have...
The EON 17-S is the P170HM(3)...looks like this is the new P170EM with custom LED LID...
The founders of Origin are the same guys who created Alienware and then sold it to DELL...but this new LID design is simply too much Alienware for my taste:
http://gizmodo.com/5875025/origins-...-fast-as-they-are-pretty/gallery/1?tag=gaming -
Actually that's their LID not from Sager/Clevo
-
is that using the new refresh from sager/clevo?
-
Nopeeeeeeee
-
Dude that`s what i said.
A second look:

EDIT: You are right that`s the god old P150HM...thought it was the new P170EM when i saw the lights and wider keyboard...
-
Sorry misread on Tapatalkk
Anyway. The backlit design is not confirmed yet. The picture that was floating around is not for the P150.
Anyway some NVIDIA news

that is the word !
Apart from that the rebadged GT 6xx will launch in Q1 -
kind of off topic, but does anyone know if core i-extreme series (x79) will have a new chipset if ivy bridge is released?
-
ohh.. ok..
-
Are these notebook GPUs?
Also, is the new AMD 7970 a notebook GPU?
Even though, allegedly, the AMD 7970 isn't even better than the 6990M. The GT6XX does appear to be a beast though. -
Yeah I meant the mobile version
-
Ah. Well I was awfully close to pulling the trigger on a P150HM. Open question to all forum members: would you suggest I wait for an Ivy bridge-GT 6XX notebook?
Also, how long will this take? I suspect I will have to wait 3 months at the minimum. -
I'm in the same boat. Decided to wait at this point. My HP Envy 15 can play BF3 on low settings and at a low resolution. I reckon we'll see the Ivy bridge refresh with the new GPU's in about 3 - 4 months. Of course that's purely me speculating on the small amount of news that's been released so far.
Now, the new processor's and GPU's aren't going to be a huge increase in performance. If you desperately need a laptop, then buy now. But if you can hold out for another 3 - 4 months, then I'd suggest waiting. -
still no clevo news... wth is going on fir CES this year..
-
I think Clevo mainly shows off new stuff at Computex.
-
there won't be any P150 with NVIDIA GT 6xxm. It's mid range GPU.
Wait for the GTX 6/7xxm.

Hey guys,
I spent the day at CES today and couldn't find any Clevo/Sager booths or info. Will keep looking tomorrow!
Was checkin out the intel booth, no showing of Ivy bridge just yet.
Any requests for photos or info? haha. -
Wow we have a person reporting from CES haha.
Have you checked the NVIDIA booth ? Btw some ultrabooks there are equipped with IB, the same for Razer project Fiona (i7 IB) and some new Samsung (especially the the orange Samsung 7 Gamer) and Lenovo Y580 (they say it has GTX 660m). Wonder if you can run msinfo32 on them lol
Edit: http://www.laptopreviews.com/lenovo-ideapad-y480-and-y580-specs-announced-2012-01
Look at the launch date 4/2012 hmmm. According to this, we see GTX 660M and Ivy wil be around in April (IB mobile leaked timeline shows Intel will launch i7 first in April)
The Lenovo seems too good to be true at $899? Minus the design for a decent cooling system -
More information about the Origin laptop here (not much more, it just says it's the same price, specifications just the lid has changed).
-
Pics of sexy korean LG and Sumsung models pls. thx.
As for Clevo/Sager refresh: here is their 2012 lineup of models.
Clevo P150EM | Channel Authorized Manufacturer Showcase
Everything looks the same on the p150, but it will have "illuminated keys"
Going into mass production in 03/2012.
I hope the illuminated keys are the ones with transparents lettering, without light passing through the little cracks between keys, because otherwise you would know its a cheap/flawed design. -
Samsung is launching a gaming laptop with NVIDIA GTX 675m soon.
So we have another GPU.
And another ! Asus R75 - GTX 670m
April/May is the month ! -
Wow, some excellent options coming out from all the manufacturers! Looking forward to April.
-
Hey guys, reporting again from Las Vegas haha.
didn't get a chance to run msinfo on the samsung gaming laptop but I can say that I wasn't too impressed with it lol ... at least not compared to our wonderous Clevo/Sager rigs.
Also got to play around with the Razer Blade .... is it cool? absolutely? will it be worth the money? hell no. Again, I'll stick with Sager.
The nVIDIA booth was awesome too. The coolest thing I saw there was the new Tegra processor -- quad core tablets ... crazy. -
what were the specs of the samsung laptop?
-
Nvidia 675M in US, 6970M elsewhere.
-
Not really, it's 6970M in the US in "hot orange" (this paint gives you 10 fps boost in gaming)
The black version is released in Singapore -
Seriously I was about to type you a response asking for you to check to see if you could find out about the Razer Blade lol. Any chance of getting some pictures? Did you manage a hands on with it?
I think we can anticipate what will be going into the P150 refresh, will simply be a case of when it's released. -
So you were disappointed with the 675m, the mid range card that others thought was faster than the 580m. Interesting.

From personal observation Id say its best to buy every 2 years, being on the odd year.
For instace, 2010 introduces new tech, touching up on HD, 3g, etc. in 2011 they were able to fine tune features and manufacture great products without bugs/outdated tech.
2012 will introduce new tech, 2013 will be the time to buy.
If there is an increase in performance in 2012 in laptops, its only going to be minor. And by 2013, 2012 models will be just as outdated as 2011 models.
So if youre buying now, you SHOULD HAVE bought a few months ago. But its still better than buying it later in 2012.
Thats why I bought now, and plan on upgrading summer of 2013. -
That doesn't suit everyone. You should buy when you need/want to and can afford to.ST4R said: ↑From personal observation Id say its best to buy every 2 years, being on the odd year.

That 14,000 Vantage score is very likely to be the overall P score, not the Graphics score. Don't get too hyped about the 660M yet, unless someone spots a screenshot of this Vantage run.
Also, in one leap, we went from the 5870M and 470M to the 485M and 6970M, even without a die shrink. You're kidding if you think we'll see minor boosts on the high end. -
Just getting back from Vegas today, with my wallet much lighter than it was when I got there lol.
Will upload some pics/videos tonight or tomorrow. Unfortunately I didn't get too many good shots. Was kinda rushed and with the LV convention centre being so massive, walking through a sea of 150,000 people, and having so much eye candy for a tech geek, it was pretty overwhelming lol. -
Looking forward to seeing the photos and hearing your thoughts!

Clevo - backlit keyboards
OriginPC - Alienware-like lid redesign
GTX600m series in April-May
XoticPC is getting airbrushing in a month
Wow, so much going on soon. I already had a hard time deciding what to drop $1800 on. -
Well I officially don't care if Diablo 3 doesn't come out until that April/May time frame.
-
Scrolling through my photos, I realized that I did not take too many shots of the gaming stuff, unfortunately.
But here are a few shots of the two laptops I briefly mentioned:
Samsung 7 Gaming Notebook Specs:
- Again, nothing too exciting if you ask me. Why not wait for Ivy Bridge and the new series of GPUs?
Samsung 7 Keyboard:
- notice that little metal hinge thingie on the top right side? That's your graphics switch. (Between light, media, and gaming, or something like that). When you slide it to Gaming mode, a flashy video plays on the screen and the keyboard and Turbo button (in the middle of the speaker grill) light up. It was cool to see, but how annoying would it get to watch that 10sec video every time you switch to high performance mode?
Samsung 7 Screen:
- Pretty nice, but nothing out of the ordinary.
I didn't have my camera with me when I visited Razer, but I took some crappy and very short videos of the fiona and blade. Sorry I couldn't get anything more detailed.
Razer Fiona:
New Razer Fiona Gaming Tablet CES 2012 - YouTube
- It wasn't a "working model", just showed that start screen. I liked that Terraria was showcased
- The controllers on the side don't look too comfortable to hold, but then again, this is just a prototype.
Razer Blade:
New Razer Blade Gaming Notebook -- CES 2012 - YouTube
- They keyboard was very nice. I didn't think I would like the green backlit, but it was sweet in person. One thing though, is that they layout looks like CRAP. Look at those arrow keys lol, so squished.
- Again, being very thin is nice. It has very similar footprint to the macbook pro, but when you lift it, it is much heavier (in fact, i'm pretty sure my P150HM is lighter, lol). but I'd be worried about the cooling. Clevos and the ASUS G series have it right.
- I don't know why they chose to show Firefall on the notebook instead of a much more demanding game to show off its capabilities. Was not impressed with the game at all, on a side note.
- They were also showing off the new Razer Naga Hex -- really sick mouse. would be awesome for Diablo 3, except for people like myself that use a mouse in their left hand
Razer Naga Hex - Expert MOBA/Action-RPG Gaming Mouse - Razer | For Gamers. By Gamers.
- As for the switch blade portion of the Blade, It's pretty cool. However, I couldn't get it to work properly when testing the system out. The default screen is numpad for the buttons and touchpad for the screen, But any button I would press would load up youtube, and the screen would just show a list of youtube videos to watch. I guess you could watch guide videos or something while you game, but it seemed pretty useless. It would have been much better to allow you to check out different games to see the dynamic changes of the switchblade depending on the game, but they only had one game showing.
In the end, nowhere near worth the $3,000 pricetag.

I have a bunch of photos of new phones and crazy TVs (55inch OLED screen that is only 4mm thick!!) if anyone is intereted in seeing those I could post some.
Also uploading a 10min demo of Windows 8 from Microsoft that I could post here if interested. -
Many thanks for that. The Fiona is actually quite an interesting concept. I'm not a fan of the Blade, I thought the Blade was the really small laptop concept they showed last time? I heard rumours it was being brought back into development, obviously this meant the Fiona concept...

Wow cool stuff. Thanks Ktulu85

I have to say, that keyboard on the Samsung 7 is nice. I wished every laptop had that keyboard design, the keys don't look flat and flush, no island style chiclet which I have come to dislike the feel of, and a full numpad.
-
My laptop has a traditional style keyboard instead of chiclet. I have a terrible practice of munching while using my laptop, sometimes getting crumbs on my laptop, plus some hair/eyelashes build up. I think my keyboard is much harder to clean and maintain than chiclet. Getting between every key with pressurized air and swabs could be rather annoying.Hellhog said: ↑I have to say, that keyboard on the Samsung 7 is nice. On the Razr Hex, are those the forward/back buttons by the scroll wheel? I have the Molten naga and I hate the placement. Not sure if the scroll wheel would be any better but I can't imagine it being worse. I know it's a gaming mouse but it's like they forgot it would be used for browsing.

The driver software for the Razer mice that I have experience with (Lachesis and Orochi) you can custom map the buttons to whatever you wish. So in the case for the Hex, I assume you will be able to set forward/back to any side button(s) you like -
Clevo is going to devastate the whole gaming market with their P150EM assuming IV is going to be included (which might make more room for a second HDD?) and a back-lid keyboard and not to talk about the upcoming nVidia series that with the P150EM should practically CRUSH the whole gaming industry and make Clevo way more dominating.
Am I right or will Clevo chill in the background with their barebones?
-
Clevo will never be as mainstream as MSI, Asus, or Dell's Alienware.
