This might a simple question, but today I purchased 8 gig of ram for the laptop and it didn't work,
strange thing was that it did work the first time and then I put it on slot 3 and 4 , but didnt work and my laptop couldn't boot up.
Put the old ram and laptop could boot again.
I got this one:
KINGSTON ValueRAM KVR16S11 8GB (1.5 V)
would the ram be defect or isn't it compatible ?
Sorry for the silly question, but need to be sure, before ordering a lot of ram online
FOund only this about the ram from the official specs:
• Dual channel DDR3L • Four 204 pins SODIMM sockets, support DDR3L 1600 MHz ( Real operation frequency depends on processor) • Two DIMMs per channel option is only available in 4 cores processor • Expandable memory up to 16GB/32GB, depends on 2GB/4GB/8GB SODIMM module

Try getting 1.35v (DDR3L). 1.5V isn't the low voltage DDR3, 1.35v is the DDR3L the specs are referencing.

Yep, mobile CPUs 4xxx series and after must use 1.35V, it's likely your modules are almost but not quite stable at that voltage.

Thx guys, what you are saying makes sense.
The guy at the store told me to get a 1.5 v and didn't double check that.
The 1.35v will most certainly work and I will order those.
Thx. -

Just make sure the speed and CL timing match your current sticks for best performance.

thx for the tip

If you have two different speeds, like 1600mhz and 1866mhz, then they both run at the slower speed. Different specs/speeds might also cause a higher chance of blue screen errors as well.

Double post...

Well the speeds will usually these days set to the slower set but the timings tend to be a bit looser. It's not massively performance impacting but there is no point buying more expensive modules and pairing them with slower ones that's for sure.
