    P870tm1 as a gift?

Is there like an application online or something?

I agree with the above diagnosis, these laptops will shut down without the fans present to prevent damage, maybe look in the forums marketplace for a part out for cheaper fan.

I was very surprised too when he gave it away, he just bought it for a gaming convention he was organizing in the city, smashed the screen at some point and threw it away in the garage.

You can get them way cheaper from AliExpress, and shipping time will be similar since they're all coming from China anyway.

If u're going to replace TM'S cpu fan. I believe it is connected to cooling. So to replace it u need whole TM's CPU cooling with fan. Not only fan

You can disassemble it, it's held by a few screws and some tape. Easy enough to replace with a regular ADDA 12v, just need to tale off the metal shroud, since the TM1 cooler has a copper shroud built into the cooler.

I wanst aware than. On pictures it looked as one piece of copper. That is why it suppose to be that good. Coz first of all it doesn't have gaps, so no air is wasted. Second of all, whole fan could work as heatsync also since it is same part.

Anyway, good to know. I am slowly thinking about upgrade. Mby I will find just tm heatsync without fan.

Even thought that's purely aesthetics, I'm pretty sure any store that sells clevo can sell you the chassis and the back cover of the LCD. It's not difficult to disassemble the whole machine at all. It's time consuming mainly but for a machine that was given to you I'd keep it and try to get a clean chassis for it. Apart from that you are a lucky guy, that's all

Whats the run time on battery on this model?, I read somewhere it was aprox. 1 1/2 hour but that sounds like very little time.

With that cpu and gpu's you are lucky to have more than one hour. The machine doesn't have igpu so you'll get more battery sucking components. I'd bet in one hour maximum in normal use

I would guess that you might be able to get up to about 3 hours in energy saving mode and with undervolted CPU and GPU and brightness at mabye 40% tops.

You might also try to make a special profile for the GPU with Nvidia inspector, that may also help. Still this is among the worst current laptops you can have when it comes to battery life as Clevo does not offer a manual GPU switch (imo this is a bad decision) or Optimus (probably a good decision as it affects performance). So the graphics card will kill that battery even if you manage to drastically reduce power consumption of the CPU and that runtime would only be for some office work/browsing/typing or watching a movie on the go.

2-3 hours if ensure the gpus are forced into low idle (nvidia inspector can do this) and keep the CPU dynamically clocking and voltage is dynamic too.

That might work for me, 3 hours would be ideal, my current laptop (HP Zbook G2) gives me 4 hours which is perfect for my classes, although moving it with two chargers will be hard lol

It is only an estimate so better make your own tests before selling that Zbook.

The way I see it the Zbook has three advantages:
    It runs longer
    It is lighter
You can carry an add-on battery that will double its lifespan without much of an effort

Of course it is also boring while the Clevo is cool :D

With very light use I can get up to ca. 200 minutes on a comparable MSI Gt75 with a GTX1080 but when I say light I mean light so you can see that this is kind of an optimum scenario already :)

As for power I am not familiar with the version with two power supplies but I am sure Meaker@Sager might be able to help in that regard as you may be fine with just one. FWIW I would think that for most use cases and with only one graphics card you should be able to use it with just one power supply especially with undervolted CPU and GPU but you'll have to measure power draw to verify that.

But wouldn't it be possible to connect just one of the two power bricks?
From review pics that I have seen the connector should be the same?

I read somewhere it was possible but the CPU would reduce it's clock speed to match the available psu output. I've done this on my Dell Precision M6400, it comes with a 210w wall adaptaer but I can use it with a 90w adapter but the CPU runs at 1.5GHz.

Yes you can just connect one but you are going to get close to that 330w limit and any same manufacturer is going to leave some margin of safety.

So a bit of undervolting should help with the power draw - best to get a watt meter and test around with it for a bit.

It had a sticker of their logo on the lid but it was broken so I couldn't identify it until I saw their logo in a youtube video. Seems it's the model they use to advertise their laptops.

Nothing wrong with Xidax just another one of the many resellers we have in the world of clevo laptops and others.

P870 is end of life. Clevo has discontinued the model unfortunately. Some resellers just haven’t updated their marketing I suppose.
