Is it possible to install it?, or is it bound to the rom itself and I need a special tool to flsh it?

I'm not a fan of high resolutions, specially in a small screen, so I think I'll go for the 1080p panel, It would be great if I could go for a QHD res LCD. but I only found FHD and UHD with 40p. conector, QHD uses 50p.

It's finding the rom that's the difficult part as it's not publically available.

My 1080P 144HZ is beautiful, and it is also a 40 pin! I have had it overclocked to 154HZ since i’ve owned my laptop. And the IPS is really nice for vivid looking graphics. Most of the 1440P panels are TN anyways, and I think a GTX1080 is just much better for 1080P either way it’ll really push that 100+ fps all the time in just about any game out.

You should start working on getting that CPU in check too though. Overclocking, delidding, maybe liquid metal too. You should be able to squeeze 4.7-4.8 with that chassis easily on a 8700K.

    Awesome machine either way.

The 1440p 120hz panel has interlacing techniques on brightness to get there so image quality is not as good as the 1080p panels.

Yeah I also like to use "small" resolutions so I don't have problems with ultra + 60 FPS while gaming haha but I wouldn't mind having a 4K screen either, specially for coding which I do a lot. So far I've managed to take off -100mV out of the cpu, but haven't tried oc yet since I had no access to the BIOS... 'till now

BTW that's a sick ride you got dude, the color looks awesome.

I think so. But wait until all the OG members respond. Do you have G-Sync compatible gtx1080’s? So you might need a G-Sync monitor too? Unless it doesn’t matter to you.

    I would check ebay too.

Any 40 pin panel with the connector in the right place should work technically. G-sync will break on a different panel model if you had it before.

So... this means that if I upgrade my panel I lose G-Sync even if the new panel is G-sync compatible also? And not only that do I lose it on all video outputs or just to the laptop monitor?

I've been having trouble reinstalling windows, everytime I install the video driver the screen goes black and the computer restarts itself and gets into a bootloop, eventually the Windows restore appears and enables me to restore the OS to when the video driver wasn't installed. I thoguht it could be the GPU but I don't think so since I tested them before formatting the drive and they were fine. Could it be the fact the the LCD cable is disconnected from the motherboard?, it is disconnected since that way I can get into BIOS trough the HDMI output.

I guess it breaks G-Sync if you use an LCD with a different part number than the original.

Only if its white listed in your bios version. Certification is for a specific motherboard, GPU and panel combo.

You can't reconnect the damaged display cable and do a blind boot and switch displays from the desktop now that you're done for the moment with BIOS needs?

I'll reconnect the LCD cable to see what happens, thought it will take a while, I have to tear down the whole system the get to the LCD connector smh. It has stock BIOS it seems, I already did a clear CMOS but it didn't do anything.

Nvidia wanted to protect the brand image of g-sync so they locked it down pretty tight to their approved combos with their argument being they don't want display artifacts like blanking and corruption on a machine with a g-sync sticker.

Now it makes sense lol. Seems like a common practice from Nvidia, I guess they wanto to avoid low quality manufacturers damage the public image of their services.

That's all fine and dandy, but maybe Nvidia should put the same diligence into fixing their G-Sync drivers. I haven't been able to update since April of last year because every subsequent driver breaks G-Sync (causes black flashing) on my system. And G-Sync was broken for 6 months in 2018 with a different bug (severe performance degradation).

You can always wait till you get a replacement panel to proceed if you don't want to do an extra tear down. You can also look for a dead / parted system with a good screen assembly too for a good price:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Clevo-P870...961360?hash=item469d314050:g:HOEAAOSwZ3td3sp9

Either way, good luck! Still a heck of a deal (FREE :p :p).

I already did it lol and it worked. The problem now is that the driver is only half-installed since it turned itself off when I was installing it without the LCD cable connected, I'll jusr reinstall it. Can I use the drivers from the Nvidia site or do iI have to us the ones from CLEVO website?

Oh the whole thing is BS in my opinion and some of it is panel manufacturers not having chips that properly cope with it.

Often what can help is installing the clevo drivers first on a fresh install and then putting the nvidia website drivers on top.

Ran the benchmark again with a single GPU, temperatures were better than the last time, active GPU 75°C max, deactivated GPU 65°C max and CPU 55°C max. MX-4 really helped.
