I need to check interest for this fan purchase.

So you know the fans on pascal clevos are loud, they're annoying, and you want to lower the sound output.

@bsch3r has made a thread here for swapping the fans with ASUS ROG G751 fans and achieved much lower sound while only sacrificing a bit of temperature rise. http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/p870dm3-phoenix-2-silence-mod.797077/

The problem is the fan costs around 50 EUR or around 40USD PER PIECE

My solution is to bulk import from Delta themselves, I know an OEM in china who can supply new-ish fans for the ASUS G751 that you can mod to fit the P870 or P750/770/775 laptops.

I posted the interest check down below.

There are three version of the ASUS 12VDC Fan.

Currently I do not know if the G750Jx fan works in your Clevo or not, but they are cheaper.

    G750: Cheapest version. -> http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/asus-g750-disassembly.726296/

    G751: The one that @bsch3r used -> http://www.laptopultra.com/guide/asus-rog-g751-disassembly/

GFX70 China exclusive "Big boy" : biggest one that you can find (scroll down) -> http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/new-asus-rog-gfx70jz.758736/

I'm pretty sure all three models are 12V, I will check further before ordering.
I'm not sure if the GFX70 fan can fit in the Clevo. @Mr. Fox

You can buy 1 pair (1 GPU, 1 CPU) for the smaller machines, or you can buy 2 pair (2 CPU, 2GPU) for the larger machines. I will ship them personally to you.

    PRICE ESTIMATE

Price estimate with shipping to US48. THIS IS NOT FINAL AND IS PROVIDED AS A VERY ROUGH ESTIMATE FOR SINGLE ORDER PRICE.

    What is "single order price"?
Price for JUST ONE pair and shipping to the US.

    Why is it so expensive?
If the Clevo community orders more, we can reduce the price. Most likely by half if the order is big enough.

    G751 fan, Pair of 1 (GPU+CPU fan): 50 / Pair

    G750 fan, Pair of 1 (GPU+CPU fan): 45 / Pair

GFX70 "big boy" fan, Pair of 1 (GPU + CPU fan): 50 / Pair

==THIS PRICE ESTIMATE IS NOT FINAL PLEASE RE-READ ABOVE==

Note: If you DO NOT LIVE in the US48, PLEASE DO NOT FILL OUT.

The "big boy" GFX70 fan is 25mm thick on the opening of the fan (1rmb coin). Maybe around 26cm total.

Check if your heatsink is actually that thick.

I really need @bsch3r in here for the G751 fan measurements.

Since I don't have mine yet (should be here maybe next Thursday or Friday) I don't know for certain that I will think the fans are too loud when maxed out. I'm interested in case I do, LOL.

The P870DM-G was not loud at all with max fans. Neither are/were the P570WM, P750ZM, M17xR2, M18xR1, M18xR2 or Alienware 18. If the fans actually are too loud it will be the first laptop I have ever owned where I could actually say that.

I'll have to wait until I get the machine. Hopefully it's on track to get shipped out next week. If the fans are too noisy I'm definitely interested though.

The G751 fans are 12v and have the same height and width as the original ADDAs. However at the last 5mm the exhaust is a little bit elevated. If you cut the screwhole protrusions and shorten the vga version by 5mm at the exhaust the fan fits perfectly indide the DM3.

However, bettet use your own phantasy and solutions to fit it in. Maybe you find better ways. I have to confess that my solution is not very elegant

BUT: for me the end result counts: after fan mod and undervolt the DM3 is exactly how I wanted it to be:
Witcher 3 maxed out in 4k at a constant 60fps at above 1800MHz on the cards in a whisper quite machine.

    BF1, here I come!

Did you cut off the screw mounts completely? If so, what is holding the fan in place? (I cannot see the photos you posted because the forum image hosting is broken. Those may have answered my question.)

Click the thumbnail instead of opening picture in new tab.

He used duct tape to hold the fan in place. The screw holes don't match a all.

Fox, I will put some images on a server ASAP. Try to load the pictures via taptalk in the meantime, this seems to work. I fixed the fans with duct tape... I know, I know... I will figure out a better way, but atm tape works just fine.

If the big boy fan pumps out more air / air pressure than the stock ADDA fan then I'm not too concerned.

On the other hand, my connection with ADDA OEM is not as good as Delta. Will be hard to procure large amount of the fans.

This scenario is absolutely possible with the fan mod I posted. However, folks who received their unit in the last days, especially with the 3k panel do not complain about noise... maybe clevo uses other fans than the ADDAs now.

Bumping this - wifey thinks they're too noisy when she's in the same room as me watching TV.. Has anyone discovered a way to mount these fans other that duct tape?

Otherwise I guess I could always make my wife wear headphones to watch TV :p

You could nevertheless begin by replacing just two fans, it will already make it quieter and replace the 3rd fan at a later point

Sorry, but atm I am absorbed by work... Look at my older posts, there you find a picture of the cable connector on the DM3 and DM1 -same wiring- mainboard.
    Here are some other:

Just connect the corresponding colors to each other. Blue keeps unconnected as it is the pwm signal not needed in the DM3

You wont regret this mod, the DM3 was unusable for me before.

Duct tape works great in fixing the fans, if you find a better method let me know

I guess there is not enough interest for a retailer to design a fan that performed better or the same and was not as loud. I would be interested in fans that were designed to fit properly without having to tape. How did the performance vs sound end up being for anyone who has completed this mod?

Still somewhat interested, but only if we can get them dirt cheap. The fans in my P870DM3 are not loud enough that I would want to spend too much and I'm definitely not thrilled about the idea of sacrificing a few degrees of temperature for the sake of having quieter fans. In other words, I don't want to spend much in case I end up deciding to put the original fans back in because of higher temperatures. The sound of these fans doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I kind of like the sound they make when run at max speed. Like @TBoneSan suggested, the only reason why I would even consider it is because my wife thinks they are too loud if I am gaming or running benchmarks in the living room while she is watching TV.

If the replacement fans didn't sacrifice any cooling ability at max speed I'd definitely be interested. But it's seems we can have it all.

On that note... I just uploaded a video. The fans are in quiet mode and the CPU comes as it should...delidded :D incidentally Lol at those GPU temps - about 30 degrees of play left.

Track to 1:37 if you want the game sound muted.

@Papusan @Georgel @Phoenix @TomJGX - in particular this might be of value to you. I can't imagine anything with this sort of power being quieter.

Nice video, bro. I couldn't really even hear the fans. I never would have noticed had I not been actually trying to identify the sound of them during the part where the audio was muted.

Cheers, yeah the fans on quiet seemed to be keeping the CPU under control and as you noticed, you can barely hear them at all. Performance mode wasn't any louder except it seems a little more proactive rather than reactive to the temp increases.

The fans noise has actually been over exaggerated. IMO.
I tried my friends DM3. it's a smidgen louder than the DM1 at full load. But not any louder than most of the high end laptops from.other brands.
