it seems like a new laptop with Q170/H170 chipset, and using 6th Low-power desktop processor.and it didn't have a dedicated video card,so might have a long battery life lol.it has a ExpressCard slot and also supports a Docking station.seems like an attractive business notebook.SO....when will i be able to buy it?

I think our sample chassis is due in the next week or so, which would put any stock delivery around 3-6 weeks from now.
Not sure if this is a different timescale to other companies, it may be as we prioritised other Skylake models! -

It's certainly an interesting model which I can see a fair number of people being interested in.
-
indeed, especially with the weight / power / space savings on using just iGPU and M.2 storage
perfect business machine, hope they used the additional space for extra battery life!

Any info on what ports that docking station has?

On that dock it looks like 3x USB 3.0 on the one side, maybe some monitor outputs on the back, but they are too blurry to really recognize. VGA maybe? I couldn't find any specs on the dock anywhere.

Looks awesome, i could see the benefit for business use, or even school/gaming use.
Be interesting to see as more info becomes available on it -
Nothing wrong with CPU only laptop. Infact, i've been looking for exactly like that for a while now for work.
but like i said in the other thread, lack of TB3 port and anemic 35W processors killed it for me.
A quick look at the specs suggest only 2 memory slots and Same dimensions as DM/ZM. meh -

I didn't catch that the first time looking at this, that it was the 35w processor. I still think there will be a demand for a model like this though. Nice battery life at least.

Seems like an odd model to me.
Has ExpressCard, but no TB3 (which should theoretically supersede it)?
Socket 1151 CPU, but only listing the lower power T models, which I'm guessing is due to thermal limitations. At 35W I can't see those processors being much faster than the regular HQ models or the XeonM series. So why even bother with a socketable CPU? The Xeon 1535Mv5 has all the same features (vPro, Vt-D etc). It would make upgrades/replacement easy, but at the same time, anybody who's done large business support knows you just throw a new laptop at the client same-day and take all the time you want to fix/replace the old one...
On the same thought, why not use the Xeon L versions from socket1151 instead?
I like the business skew of the laptop (ability to disable ports and such) but can't help but think they executed weirdly. -
i dont know. why go through the entire development process for a laptop that no one would want ?
who does this cater for ? low performance non bga cpu enthusiast ?
no "business" people i know would be lugging around bulk 1.5" thick laptop when there are simply better options out there for a cheaper price.
i cant think of a use case for this other than a portable nas.
They should instead make a cheaper entry level DM model with say 960M/950M or no GPU.
One could always upgrade the gpu later or use TB3 and desktop GPUi_pk_pjers_i likes this. -
It says 340 minutes in UMA mode, and 62WHr battery. There's no reason it can't have an 80WHr+ battery in it though. And there might be an option for a larger battery considering the bottom statement: "Panel open angle reached 180° (with 6-cell battery only)"
Maybe there will be a 9-cell option for 90WHr+?i_pk_pjers_i and jaybee83 like this. -
just throw in a stronger cpu model, repaste with clu and call it a day, as easy as that
btw, u wont have any luck with xeon cpus this time around, intel locked their desktop chipsets for using xeons...
nice catch with the panel opening angle wingnutlets hope ur assumption holds true with the larger battery!

Now that I look at it, I think with the battery statement they mean not when docked because there is a dock for this. But if it can truly get 6 hrs battery life, that would be a nice feat.

with 6 hours it would be the best Clevo for battery life. Be pretty nice if you don't mind not gaming while mobile

wasnt saying anything about overclocking
but one can always underclock/undervolt to make it fit into the machine´s heatsink envelope

Maybe clevo will impliment something like this eventually to land another blow at intel.Unless there is some license or agreement dictating that you cant use their hardware in this form. Some might call it going backward ,but for the few of us who like choices and freedom to do as we please with our hardware, this would be leaps and bounds steps forward.

Encoding x264, x265, no need for a GPU. Nice CPU, ODD. It has a place.

This is just wishful thinking anyway and i'm sure there could be an implementation where z height could be reduced, maybe never close enough to bga but.
For someone with a retailer/rma center near their purchase location bga with extended warranty makes sense, but for people like me the cost of bidirectional shipping and import taxes makes it a last resort.
I dislike being yet another bga basher disregarding recent stats, however i've wasted to much on bga until it left a bad taste.Maybe eventually when i try a recent one which restores my faith, but until then.Last edited: Oct 27, 2015
