I've been told a couple of times that the np9150 is unable to overclock CPUs, but I can't find a functional reason for this besides BIOS restrictions. Both models run the HM77 chipset, and the NP9170 can already access multiplier settings.
Is it absolutely true that overclocking is impossible on the 9150? Are the frequency settings changeable on either model?
-
Yeah... Intel locked up most of the CPUs, the 3720QM is supposed to be able to OC but it apparently can't on the Clevo models until some update is released. You'd have to get the XM model (some horribly priced CPU) to be able to OC it.
-
Wait, so not even the NP9170 will be able to OC? I was under the impression that it could at least take advantage of the +4 unlocked multiplier on the 3720qm.
EDIT: I see now that XTU support was added to the NP9170 in September of last year, but never to the NP9150. I guess that answers my question. -
XoticPC offers overclocking so there must be a way.

I think they are using a custom BIOS for their machines that allows OC among other things (RAID between the HDD Caddy and primary HDD on P150EM). -
well either way it sucks that the P150EM is locked down. Was there ever a custom Bios for the p150HM?
just hoping here -
If Myth had a custom BIOS, I'm pretty sure we would have it too. Anyone who bought a Mythologic could just dump their BIOS for public use, could they not?
-
They could, but how to tell if Myth dont use the standard bios on the retail models? -
CPU Overclocking NP9150 or NP9170
