    Hi,

Having now setup my laptop, I am interested in trying that 'prema bios mod' since everyone here keeps talking about it.I have tried looking up what it does but to no avail. I also want to overclock my 7970m for extra performance but after googling im still very confused in the process, anyone help me?

Basically what i researched is that i need to disable ulps? then use msi afterburner to increment the core and memory clocks? how do i do this safely, Also if i want to install the prema bios mod. On the website it says i need to have my bios and ec on version 1.00.04 how do i check this, on msinfo32 it says i have bios: "american megatrends 4.6.5 24/04/2012" and ec version "255.255"??

Safely involves small steps in voltage and clocks and keeping a close eye on temps.

I have a Eurocom Racer and had the CPU out once and the CPU overheated after that. I looked carefully and found the heatsink was not pushing hard enough on the CPU to have good thermal conductivity. I would examine carefully how the heatsink applys pressure and make sure yours has enough. I remember I bent something to make it fit tighter and that fixed it. Luckily I didnt hurt the CPU.

Do I just run a game to check the temps? Or which benchmark and what about the prema bios mod?

Crysis 3 skybox test is pretty good, any modern taxing game on both CPU and GPU will work.

anyone please help me to overclock the 7970M,

i have followed both these guides:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/overclock-7970m-omega-14-12.771294/
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...0-in-the-m17x-r3-an-illustrated-guide.658958/

to no avail, the only thing i managed to do successfully was disable ULPS, i know this because i now get a temperature reading, my problem is that i can't move the sliders in msi afterburner. I have tried waking the 7970M by using GPU-Z PCI lane checker thing, like i know most people don't have this card anymore but please help me, im using amd driver 15.1.1 beta

    Thanks

Thanks I'll try it, do you think it is maybe because I don't have that prema bios mod installed?

The system bios wont impact the GPU being able to overclock. It's a vbios/software issue.

Agreed, try that... I always OCed my 7970M with Saphire TRIXX and of all the software's I used, it worked the best..

Sometimes with mobile cards it is worth trying a couple to avoid odd issues that certain combinations have.
