I want to upgrade my CPU and Memory I have read on here that the X3380 CPU might possibly work in my sager? has anyone really tried and when will this be release for purchase? I can't seem to find it on newegg
if I can't upgrade with that CPU
What CPU top of the line would you recommend for an upgrade for my laptop
and what type of memory as well. I have my ideas and did my research just want some other opinions and input.
I want to upgrade this laptop to be a dedicated server for my COD4 games and downloading and some encoding stuff as well. And the get the NP9850 to replace this one.
I am not worried about price just compatibility

Sorry but isn't the Q6700 a 65nm core? The X3380 is a 45nm zeon core I believe - that's a no go. Unless of course Intel are doing their wonderful naming conventions where the X3380 is more than one processor...

We think that the X3380 will fit and work in there. I am trying to find where I can buy it so that I can test it. -
My Q9650 runs the same 3 GHz as my E8400 but has two more cores and that makes quite some difference for some applications.
Wprime tests twice as fast, MS Excel is able to put four processors to work and some other apps benefit as well. I expect that newer software versions will be able to put those cores to work more and more.
Anyway, since the Q9650 runs at the same speed as my E8400, it is never slower! And because it uses 45 nm technology (like the E8400) does, it runs fairly cool. -
see the problem is my Q6700 is a 65nm and the other processors are 45nm I need to find a 65nm what will work or if the 45nm will run as well

Since I live in Taiwan I contacted the manufacture directly they said the max I can place in there is the Q9550 processor the Q9650 will not work. But when I compare it to the X3380 and the others, the Q9550 matches the X3380 except for speed and that is what I want to put into my PC
any suggestions?

I bought my np9261 with a E6850, that's a 65nm processor but that didn''t keep me from updating to the E8400 (45nm) and still later to the Q9650.
Just do it, the Q9650 is a must have for our old D901C's! -

I upgraded my 9262 from the Q6700 to the Q9650 six months ago and it works just fine with the latest bios. Go for it.

Call your reseller to make sure but it should work. i have seen resellers on other websites sell xeons with the d900c/d901c
